How illegal is it to mass-send SMS messages ?

Hello guys,

Question is pretty simple though. If one owns like 300,000 phone numbers, from all over Europe, how illegal is it and what kind of problems can you have by sending them 1 SMS-message with something like ''Discover the best offers available in XXXXX'' pushing an affiliate website with various commercial offers.

What could happen ?
And do any internet service actually offer the possibility to send such mass-SMS in a efficient way and, if possible, kinda legal way ?

but recently here in some states of the US, some Trump fanatics were doing automated cold calls and texts urging everyone vote trump. no one got in trouble.

It depends on a variety of factors but mainly what country you are sending from and which country you are sending to.

If you don't know the law then yes you could get into trouble.

Ok, I believe i'd probably need to check the law over all countries I have in mind but.. unfortunately, since it's European Union, I guess the law is the same for me. And it's obviously not looking good. Don't want to get into any trouble though. Thanks for the links Asif !

I get spam text every day. I'm told there is no way to stop it because there is no longer a way to trace it to a real source.
