I tried this method before ~2 weeks
RESULT : 130 REPLIES from one ad
56 clicks on my site for free ipod and one coversion
Maybe I should try another offer

I use a similar method to this with cell phones on craigslist that I do pretty well with.

I agree 100% on personal response. It will absolutely increase your conversion rates by building a little rapport. I use a macro with a 1st respond and a 2nd response.

In addition to the generic macro text, I leave a spot blank up top to do a little bs'ing. Always addressing them by name if given "Hey Jon how are you this morning"

I always try to skim their email too.. (not read) but most of them have a reason for wanting the item "I need to replace my phone because my friend ran over it with his pickup truck" So I'll add "Wow sorry about your luck with your last phone, with friends like that who needs enemies huh!!"

The macro response usually includes something like:

"Someone is supposedly on the way to come get it, but I haven't heard from them in awhile so I'm not sure what's going on. If she falls through on picking it up, you'll be the first person I contact fair enough?" Then I go on to drop hints about this website I found it on.. but that "I can't remember exactly where it was" and "I'll have to do some digging around to see if I can find it.. but no gaurantees.."

You'd be surprised how many people will email me back with can you "please find the website for me!!", or "wow I thought those websites were scams i'm glad it really works please find it"

Of course the person always shows up, and I'm always able to find the website.

Little things go a long way. Infact if you have ever actually contacted someone in an ad on craigslist, usually you don't get a response and rarely is it personal. For people who use CL to buy things all the time, a little courtesy really makes you stand out.

Has anyone got any sites similar to craigslist that this'll work on?

you can try other classifieds... but you're just gonna get 2 or 3 replys here and there...

you can try kijiji for US and Canada - gumtree for UK offers.
Some newspapers who have their classifieds online? Might want to try those too. People wouldn't think scam on there in most cases. The newspapers usually have an option to post free on their online version of their classifieds - only pay if you want it in the print edition.

thx bizkiller for post it... but i don't think i can read it yet.. my eyes were literally stayed on your avatar .. who is she dude.. lol ..

just 1 question though.. is this saturated yet ...?

Come on people dont be copy cats, use this idea with your own twist and you will make cash.... I have made lots of cash from "technics" that peoples says its gone or over saturated....

haha...

you are right..there will be MORE copy cats and dogs here..i am sure they will follow blindly without a twist...

people are often lazy to think more ;)

This is a good idea, though I think I would feel bad lying to people, especially ones that are in a tough financial situation. Thanks for sharing though.

I've been doing this for long even before this was posted here, only few responded to my ad and very poor conversion. (this is only based on my experience)

That was nice idea, i can think about other ideas incorperated...

But i have a great barrier, that's my country..coz where ever i found such offers when i go registrations, only major countries like us, uk and canada are listed..

I just wish to know where there are any international offers....where i can try this method.

Maybe a few might know about this already...

I'm trying this out right now and so far 17 people have emailed me. 5 clicks, 0 conversions. It isn't looking good. But I'll use the idea for something more hopeful in terms of getting conversions. Anyone else having success with this?

May i know what offers were u using for this method....

guys, i recommend SunTzux's way of doing this.

so, try to talk more like a human! :D

Good idea, what if you use a delayed autoresponder?

The delayed auto responder will help, but won't be as effective as SunTzuX's post about personalization. Is it more work? Definitely. But you will get higher conversions, less people flagging your ad, and that my friends is the name of the game. The only question you have to ask yourself is if you want to actually work that hard to make a few bucks. For me, been there done that and feel that automation is the only way to go. However, good post and good idea for those just getting started.
