How I Survived Penguin and kept going !!!

Hey guys

I know a lot of people are pissed off with a penguin update but I actually did not feel the heat. Infact I recently found out that there was something like penguin update. My sites retained their position over the past month, if not went higher.

Here's my secret :
Well, here's my secret. You might not like, I run a guitar site with just about 200 posts, it's a website with least SEO ever. I don't spend anytime on SEO, I just post Original content and share it in a few social networking sites and forums. Believe it or not, that is all I have done. Somehow that was enough to keep my pages on the top.
In a way I think this penguin update was great because earlier my page had a pretty low ranking as all these websites with BS content with great SEO took over. Now, it's all about original content, which is a great thing for small guys like me.

I am not going to risk posting my site here as some pissed off webmaster who wants to kill G for penguin update might kill my site.

But, I hope you get my message. SEO is great but it works best when accompanied by original content.

All I would say is dont speak too soon. After the original penguin update I sounded just like you. Then last night the penguin 1.1 slapped me with a wet fish.

Where have you been the last month? Instead of waiting here for a reply you will be best off Googling it. I really don't understand why people ask these questions on the forum instead of investigating it themselves. I could tell you what it is, but why would I waste my time explaining it when you could find the information you are looking for in a few seconds? I would much rather write this long post scolding you for not being proactive. That's just who I am.

My main company site was in the same boat. Climbed to page 1 for many Kw's after original Penguin update only to fall victim to V1.1. The only thing I did during these time periods was a PR. Maybe it thru my anchor text algo off balance or just maybe the V1.1 caught something I had done wrong prior to this site. of course, I'm somewhat bitter...but like my dad use to tell me....what doesn't kill you, just makes you stronger...and I'm not dead... Good Luck everyone...

It is Matt Cutts pet penguin that sleeps under his desk and then every now and again comes out and fucks up your whole world.

yeah, penguin seems really random...i just came out of penalty from the original penguin, don't know what i did to get out...

1. Don't speak too soon

2. Your advice is to do absolutely no SEO on our sites. GTFO!

Why would your site get slapped by penguin if you don't do any SEO? It's a bit like someone saying that they haven't got a speeding ticket because they don't drive!

Try targeting some competitive keywords and see how far you get with no link building and just original content...
