Value is a byproduct of human perception.
No value seems to exist in the Universe when we remove this human stuff from the equation.
So one should be aware of what they perceive as valuable. It can get tricky.

That is true Gold is useless in a desert where is no food and water to buy it with.Food and water will be valuable to you at the point in time

Good thing that we don't live in a remote desert without any technology or resources so this example is not applicable.
In a complex and advanced society you need commodities (or even fake currency like fiat money) in order to have a functioning economy.

Ah yes, attempting to fit a square peg in a round hole is definitely the future.
Like, don't get me wrong. It makes sense for some usecases. Stuff like Peer-to-peer network transfers and stuff like that. But that's where it ends.
This whole "decentralization is the solution" stance to me sounds like some marketing mumbo some dude made at silicon valley. Economies of scale exist for a reason. And centralized systems work for the same reason.
