How I Beat Google Updates

Hi BHW members, I decided to make this post after seeing that lots of people are being confused by the continuous drops in serps caused by recent G updates. In my case i own 6 sites in different niches half of them are EMDs, i was able to maintain my rankings for a long time now and even pushing some of my main keywords to 1st place.

What i did basically is i started updating my sites with fresh content (very long articles about 1000-1700 words each) at least three times a month. also i have only one no-follow link to the product I'm affiliated with; because i found this affecting my sites in the rankings when i had a link in every article on every page. And remember to put a link to your home page for better inner linking structure with related keywords don't use the same one over and over.

Now here's what matters most:
I built very high quality Web2s linking to my money site with unique high quality long articles (1000 words average) about 30 web2s a week. You can do this with any tool you want or by hand which is preferred. Remember to include a link to your home page and a link to other inner pages.

I leave you with this MS capture for today's rankings for one of my non EMD sites (1 year old, but other ones are much younger and still ranking well) The difficulty is medium-high competition.

It is tough work ..

I guess the 30 articles for the web 2.0s were spun articles???

Yeah they were highly spun about 95%, I also forgot to mention that i post spun articles to my web2s when using Senuke X, while i create unique content to each of my web 2s when i build them manually. Sure it takes a long time but it's really worth it.

On the web2.0s...are the articles spun content? I'm leery now of using any type of spun content linking back to main sites.

Well, I think the way to get on top positions of google right now after the updates is nothing but the quality content. OP, thats good to have 1k -2k words article and having a no-follow link too...I am sure if the article is monetized well, google bots will carry you on top.

I suggest not to use both links from web 2.0 to the money site. That looks too 1 to 1. One or more links to something else in the niche with some authority. If I were google, I would discount linking only to one site.

HEAVEY spun is the way to go. Look at some posts from expertpeon, jackson/ubercubez or veheme for inspiration and techniques.

This should be highlighted with the problem and issues with todays supposed SEO's. If it's too easy everybody is going to do it and the game will quickly change to weed out the weak and lazy. Whoever said seo is easy? The most successful sites pile on tons of new high quality content.

I don't see whats so hard for ppl to understand about that.

Simple answer:

Very heavy spun, in the same niche, so you can set up multiple sites - no point spinning for days about insurance, and then spinning for days about dating (u catch my drift)

It pays for the hardwork it seems in your case, some others were not so fortunate with the latest updates from G, watch here:

Dont get too cocky yet, with the way google is going this days, you might not stay number 1 for long

Do you build any backlinks to your web2.0s or just let them get indexed naturally?

Thanks for this insight. I know there is still a ton of disagreement about this latest update from G and what it means long term. For all we know, in a week or two everything will change again but I am seeing somewhat of a pattern here.
I have a few questions if you don't mind.
when you say you built quality web 2.0 properties, can I ask how many and are they the ones we typically think of as "tier 1" properties or do you also have a lot of other lesser known and less popular web 2.0s. also does that mean you built them with images, videos etc or how much effort are you putting into the building of the web properties even before you start uploading articles?

you mentioned 30 articles per week - I assume that is overall and do you tend to focus more on updating the higher tier, higher PR web 2.0s or do you update them with new content pretty equally?

Finally, you mentioned you link your web 2.0 articles to both the home page and inner pages. it sounds like you do this manually. how long does it take? Most automated jobs whether on fiver or another outsourcer limit you to like two KWs and maybe 2 URLs.

My main area of expertise is not really related to SEO but has been known to alter people's lives in a positive way especially when it comes to getting into shape and also better understanding women who make Google algo updates seem simple in comparison

Not to be a dick, but there seems to be a lot of posts from people who think because they skimmed through the recent update they are doing everything right. Just because you were not affected it doesn't necessarily mean your current SEO strategy is what Google wants. I have six sites and link build to them and build them all exactly the same way. Two of my sites were hit, while the others have actually gained in the SERPS. That is what is making me scratch my head. I wish it was as easy as you say it is, but unfortunately I don't think it is. Lately every dude whose site wasn't hit thinks he is an SEO genius, it is getting pretty annoying.

Sure, i'm not showing off, or trying to impress anyone here, my time is too precious to spend it bragging. 1st spot is sure a challenge to keep but with a good strategy i plan to stay there. I advice you to check this thread for another site i ranked high and still doing great Three #1 positions in big G!

You might be WINNING right now, just don't get it too much in your head, your site can be nuked in a week, Have seen big brand site sitting on number 1 for years getting nuked.

So you have only one affiliate link on your entire website?

Nice big e-penis you got there. You didn't 'beat' Google at anything, you were just lucky. Some of my sites 'beat' Google's update, some of them doing the EXACT SAME thing got hammered. There's a big element of randomness to this.

one of my websites shows up on GWT at around rank 60ish for that specific keyword, whereas on MS it shows up as not found in the top 100, i have on going SEO work which finishes monday, do you think i have been hit, or im dancing??? Yesterday was the same issue too, not showing up in the top 100!!
