How has AI changed demand for articles?

Has demand for articles fallen off a cliff since AI? Or not much change?

Bonus questions... Are people more likely to turn down content because they suspect it is AI generated??
Hasa demand for editing gone up?

Any opinions on what AI/GPT3+ is doing for content?

I'm not in the field but interesting question. I'd guess the demand is down for $1 poorly written/spun articles. Out of the box GPT does a good job at writing, but an expert writer will do a better job. There's not enough people who are experienced with GPT to generate written content at the level of a pro writer and indistinguishable from humans.
 
I have a cousin that freelances as a journalist, mostly writing for outside website ever since his former news company shut down and he said there were no changes. I suspect we might have not experience the full force yet.

I kind of agree. The second part is doable but requires fine tuning and training datasets or a process that requires a combination of expertises to know what good content looks like and train on it and then using trained models.

Yeah, for now even if you have an AI writing at a quality that can replace humans, you still need a process to find work, review that work to make sure it doesn't go off the rails and submit that work and accessing and using the AI or implimenting and updating a series of automations that will also take time. Switching between platforms and making sure the formatting is right and other things take time. And that process still may get beaten out by someone who does better marketing and charges more, but comes highly recommended. And a good writer may be able to use voice to text or type so fast that between all the updates and authentication and everything else it might not be as great of an advantage/equalizer that it appears to be.

Someone on a budget could do this with a series of complex prompts. I tested this out for a potential project and the content came out amazing out of the box. But it would take some extensive knowledge of prompting, who understands how to structure a well written article, and this only really works well with GPT4. I'd only do this for temporary blackhat websites.

Someone taking it seriously would definitely need to fine tune. That part is way too complex for me and something that would be out of reach for 99% of people. I've heard quotes from $500 - $50k for fine-tuning. And I'm not experienced enough to know what's realistic. Maybe something I'll look into when someone develops a more simplified platform.

OpenAI just made gpt-3.5 available for tuning. You can do it for like $10. (This was today.)
 
I've been told by my close friend who has been using Freelancer and other platforms to look for writers to build her team.

She says she's always getting "writers" from developing countries (you know) sending her samples and talking to her with a tone of arrogance only to find out it is pure AI content (99%+ detection) and they still have the audacity to keep messaging her for a follow up or demand a reply when she ignores them. When she points out it is AI content and provide proof of it, they ghost her :rolleyes:

But writers whom I've spoken to have told me demand for their services did dropped somewhat. However the main reason isn't because clients are using AI content... rather, because of search engine using AI chat to answer queries to users and with all the clutter (paid ads, video panels and so on) in the search results there's no point in publishing content since visitors and traffic have took a hit. This isn't the main factor for the drop in demand for their writing services, of course.

It was always available for fine-tuning, they just extended it to 3.5 turbo. It seems simple enough to do in theory, but spoke to some people in the space, and it's much more complex in reality. I don't think $10 would be enough to truly see much of a difference from the base model.

I think I'm going to give it a whirl with $50 or so and see what I can get out of it. I'm going to tune for voice. Will report back. Eventually... Lol.
 
But real blackhatters dont care about "quality" of articles generated by A.I.

They create many websites and utilize A.I to blast content automatically at scale and make hundreds of thousands of dollars per month from ads.
 
It has but at same time I think the demand of professional writer will always be there. You can't always say what you want to say using an AI
 
I believe there is still a great need for human-created content. Because the AI content is very obvious; Duplicate, redundant, or inaccurate information are enough reasons to avoid trusting AI content.

To an extent I agree, but im sure many black hatters are not full in on churn and burn when they can potentially keep projects running longer by making them look more legit (quality).

It is a trade off where many want to find the lowest effort for the highest and longest return.
 
Nothing serious has changed okay.

Not all platforms will even accept your AI written contents.
 
My AI articles are better than most of the writers I worked with. That's the case for a lot of marketers I know.
 
On mainstream media, some people are shouting that due to ChatGPT, they lost their job as writers.

In contrast, I get warnings every other day from my clients - If you use AI writer, we'll end this project immediately and won't clear any past payments.:)
 
Well, IMO, is extremely good at writing these corporate LinkedIn posts and stuff like that ;)
For other meaningful topics, I believe, it's just not enough and requires more expertise.
 
In fact, my trust in article writers has fallen. I can no longer be sure that most of them are original. That's why I'm trying to write it myself.
