How hard is making money online in 2025 compared to 2010 ?

I'd say it's easier now to actually use some tools that are available now for some methods back in 2010, which would have made a lot more money.
Now there are lots of tools to do many things but a lot of methods are saturated or just doesn't work anymore.

It's tricky... but as long as you don't get stuck in old glory and willing to learn and adapt to new things...
Oh, there's nothing better than the present for me, so I'd still say it's easier now than ever
 
Way back in 2010, SEO was different. It was a lot easier to get traffic, lot less competitive than what it is now. Several things have changed over the years.

Now there are tools to make things easy, but the same tools will saturate any business opportunity with minimal efforts.
 
I was 14 in 2010, so I can't say how it was, but nowadays I'm managing to make money online, different from a several years ago when I started and didn't earn anything for some years
 
It is easier in 2010 compared to now but there are more opportunities now compared to 2010.
 
Way harder now if you’re comparing it to the 2010 days. Back then, you could throw up a basic site or run simple affiliate offers and see results. Less competition, fewer rules. Now? Everything’s more competitive, platforms are stricter, and users are smarter. Still doable, but it takes way more effort and a cleaner setup. Are you coming back after a break or just noticing the shift?
 
In my opinion, it's still possible to make money online today — the key is knowing where to look and what’s working right now. Back in 2010, the “lifespan” of certain methods or “hustles” used to be much longer. Today, they’re easier to find but burn out much faster — unless you’re building a real, long-term business. That’s why I’m looking for current and working strategies, not outdated tactics.
 
it depends because certain means of making money have come and gone, some easier than others.

i would say there was more unsaturated opportunity back then, but today there are opportunities that were not possible back then. today i work with onlyfans models for example which was not possible back then.

many people who were into online entrepreneurship back then also got into crypto early on as a result, and that's not really possible anymore unless u grift a startup in the crypto space
 
I would say 2010 was significantly easier.

When I first joined in 2013, there was numerous threads from noobs making 30-40k per month (by accident or by skill) popping up once in a while, whether they can retain those income is a different story which rarely have any follow up.

You rarely see any of those threads now.

Free traffic is costing a lot more to obtain, you now need money to make (or lose) money.
 
Making money is always hard until you understand a market well enough to penetrate it for your strategy.

In 2010, things were easier as there weren't many security issues. These days technology is so advanced that newbies can't do well in the start.
 
It’s more crowded now, back in 2010 you could rank with a simple blog, but in 2025 you need stronger strategy, SEO, and marketing.
 
Compared to now? It was a cakewalk back then.
Was monetizing the hell out of organic reach of facebook. Good times.
 
Way more competitive now than in 2010, but also way more tools, traffic sources, and info available. It’s harder to stand out, but if you're creative and stay updated, it's still very possible to win.

Back in the 2010s, it was a piece of cake to launch a website and get a lot of visitors because there wasn't much competition. But these days, things are way different. Loads of new sites pop up every single day, and every niche is super crowded. However, with good online skills, hard work, and dedication, you can still make it happen.
 
A lot harder.
In 2010, you could rank by just using a keyword related domain.
 
tbh, it's much easier than 2010. More tools to support, more platforms to earn, more mentors to learn from.
