How good is twilio really?

Hey there,

I'm just starting my mobile business, I'm just wondering at what level will twilio start frowning on me for sending mass SMS? I see the plans offered by other SMS companies with short codes and it seems they provide tens of thousands of SMS by month.
if I learned one thing about IT companies, is that "unlimited" rarely means "unlimited" if you read the fine prints.
I e-mailed them about this and they told me that short code was a preferred method. I asked them about the point where I could get away without getting a short code and they (not so surprisingly) snubbed me (didn't a response).
Any tips? Anybody stress tested this? thanks BHW.

twilio isnt unlimited and has a capped long code delivery rate - around 1sms/second

this equates to around 16mins to send a thousand sms messages in comparison to there short code delivery of around i think its around 30 second... other sms aggregates for example can drop around 400/second!!!

if you have around 500 to 1000 subscribers i would seriously consider looking at a short code, unless of course you are not able to monetize your list
