Hi, i have a online magazine with 25000 visits per day, but only has 46 twitter followers.
How i can increase it? my competitors has 3k followers

I have tweetadder but only use for non-money profiles, and don't want risk with a premium twitter account

25k visits per day -- you've a dynamite site! Give something free on the front page and ask them to "Just 'Pay' with a Tweet and/or Like (FB)" -- You can easily have 1000s of very targeted followers within weeks.

That's a great idea.

Is your site fully integrated with Twitter? Meaning, do visitors have the opportunity to tweet every page/post on your site? Is there a prominent link to your Twitter on every page?

Are you collecting emails for a newsletter? If so, send out a blast that is just about following you on Twitter.

I know a thing or two about Twitter. I've worked with Chris Brogan. PM me if you want some advice. I can take a look at your site and make suggestions.

Hey, ElusiveHat! Just want to drop you a compliment for offering to help srb888. Nice to see this kind of thing on BHW. It's encouraging to many of us. I gave you Rep + Thanks!

Hey friend, you've mistakenly misunderstood a bit slightly! ;)

Only the first sentence is directed towards me, the rest goes straight to the OP.

Of course, he deserves the +Rep and thanks though.

I guess, I can also take some of his great help for my own sites;). But that would be greatly unfair to the OP...

The best way to get quick twitter fans is to comment on the links they tweet. Communication is a very important aspect of social networking. If you are good in communicating you can make a good list of fans, especially if you could contact friends of similar niche, they might show instant interest in your profile and become friend of yours.

Ask your visitor to follow and mention you, and in return for their effort offer some giveaway for a lucky winner. Of course you should monitor who mention you and to make the giveaway engaging, make sure your average visitor find it useful. You can giveaway hard-copy book, try to contact the writer directly and ask for a discount price since you'll buy about 10-20 pieces with extra free advertising in your web, since your website pretty much established, it'll be great offer for a writer. Do you know how hard to promote a book online is? It'll cost you few hundreds dollar more expensive than buying seed from twiends or similar service, but the result is incredible, imagine if one of your visitor had 100k follower that mention your name, probably you get more "New and Fresh" visitor who never know you before, and if they like your website, chance is they'll be loyal visitor until you screw up your website. And that's only from one powerful visitor, what if there is 10 powerful twitter user that mention your name? But again, this is not cheap, only recommended for finely established website like yours.

My bad. I was focused on ElusiveHat's offer to help the OP via PM. Quote:

Thanks to all for suggestions, but this site is a local newspaper, so i can't use techniques "for sale" due i don't sale anything,
I was searching in google about social media strategist for newspapers and don't find any about smokesalers

In that case, check any online newspaper, nyt for example.... you'll find they too have a FB and Twitter "Follow us" on their search bar (extreme right) and "What's Popular Now". All those online newspapers have specific FB/Twitter strategies. Try finding something that's precious for your readers and put them up on Twitter as well as FB. You don't have to sell anything, just find interesting items/news specific to the locality, for example, and your readers will do the rest for you. Just give them an icon to tweet the news...

Check this page, for example and see how The Guardian uses FB/Twitter strategy...
Code:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/25/barack-obama-bolsters-transatlantic-relationship
Check all the online newspapers and find how they use the social networking, then use your own twist along those lines...

I checked it before ask here, my problem is that competitors started 1 year ago, my customer start (put the buttons) 5 months ago, but he mind is as a stone.

Content is attract (double visits in this months) and grow the visits from social sites (and has the longest duration)

Site has buttons on left side (
Code:
http://www.mallorcadiario.com/sociedad/medio-centenar-de-personas-luchan-por-contralar-un-incendio-en-ibiza-73116.html
)
Some people share it, but don't refer to site or account

Many thanks for the help

OK, I checked your site. It looks great. About your social media widget (on the left top) -- I think it is occupying a premium spot on the page... shouldn't be there, and it doesn't look too professional. Sorry to say that, my friend.

What I suggest is that you can put it in horizontal format, either just under every headline on the inner pages and on the right-hand side on the front page (You already have FB there, but you can also have twitter box too just below the FB box). See example (i) below:

Examples that I find more attractive are:
(i)
For front page:
Code:
http://www.as.com/
Check how great the FB & Twitter boxes on the mid-right of the page is.

(ii)
For individual stories:
Code:
http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/portavoz-deportivo-madrid-sera-mourinho/20110526dasdaiftb_13/Tes
The social media widget is just below the title as well as at the end of the story.
Looks quite professional. The particular newspaper page also has large FB & Twitter boxes on the rght sidebar... they remind the readers to take particular action. Social marketing/advertising is a must for every business, especially so for an online newspaper which needs to attract more and more readers and keep the existing ones.

Check this one:
Code:
http://www.20minutos.es/barcelona-cataluna/#barcelona
See how they are keeping the social media bar fixed at the top of the screen and so the reader is never far away from the FB / Tw button... The div is aptly named -- User Actions, and the bar is named "User Bar". These guys understand the value of social networking / advertising / marketing, and could well be attracting a lot of targeted traffic from there. (Just saw their Twitter page -- they have great number of followers, and it also looks like they may be using something like TweetAttacts too... just a wild guess! ;))

Code:
http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/spain.htm
You can visit the above wen-page to check on more Spanish online newspaper and see how these are using the social media widgets on their sites. I think your own site's widget needs re-positioning for better effect. Try doing so and it may just prove very successful... :)

P.S.: Add a great professional bio to your Tw page. HTH.

Many thanks srb888 for your response, i will try with my friend (and his stone on the head) for do a/b test of some of the proposals.

There is some example of "call to action" of share and twitt? in 99% of sites this is do by the button text, but i want test the use of a call to action and measure the results

If possible add a widgetbutton on the left margin that links to your twitter profile.

In social Networking Twitter done a tremendous job. But Tweet-adder does not work properly. My friend also face the problem in tweet-adder. Her all account is suspended in twitter.
