How far is too far with social proof?

I recently got a comment on my site from one of the top bloggers in the world.

You know how product/service owners use testimonials to boost their social proof and therefore their credibility.

Would it be a bad/immoral thing to take a quote from his comment (where he said how much he liked my site), and throw it onto my 'about' page to boost my social proof to new first-time readers?

I can't tell if its a bad/good thing.

He said it - there is nothing wrong with quoting somebody, especially when it is positive.

Putting words into their mouth is a different story.

Hmm alright.

I just wasn't sure if it was bad to move a comment to another part of your site purely for social proof.

I would put it on the site but not in the about page, somewhere else. like maybe on the side, so people can see it when they are looking at articles on your site.

Yep side bar. By the way, have you considered asking him to allow you to use it anywhere on your blog. Most "big time" bloggers are nicer than you think. Asking can make a huge difference.

Yeah I actually emailed him, and he's a great guy!
