Very far! The best traffic is free traffic. If you have a specific niche / fetish that's underserved (but based on Rule 34, I'm not sure that exists) you can do well.
I don't play much in the adult space, so I can't comment beyond that.

Yes it's possible, just use Twitter and Instagram accounts...possible to get 1000 clicks a day with just a few accounts. You can also do tube uploading and contact people and ask them for traffic/link exchange. Check out gfy dot com they have plenty of people on there willing to do traffic trades.

you can go very far and live well with free traffic, but adult offer...hmm I say no. Traffic wasted.

You can effectively go pretty far but it clearly depends on your niche: how many visitors you can expect on the niche, how hard it is to reach them and how much they are willing to pay, list last points is important for CTA (as you mentioned this remuneration method). Maybe you could share a little more detail on the adult niche?
