How exactly do you outsource SEO??

So I undrstand what needs to be built, why we build them and all that stuff ..

However, what the hell do these monthly plans mean?

I see lots of services charging $xxx per month to target 5 keywords ..

If my site has 50 keywords, I need to pay 10x monthly?

The reason I ask, is because I am building some sites around low competition, easy to rank keywords. Would it be a waste of money to buy such a service? Are they for more difficult keywords?

If your site needs promotions for 50 keywords, then the cost would be 20X - 30x as you'll have to buy more services with different links to create an authority site. The 10x would be if you had 10 sites with 5 keywords each.

There are services here that charge $$ and bring you great results. I'd go with them.

It costs money to rank each key word. so if you have 50 key words of course it's going to be expensive

I will definitely be going to t0mmy when I have some bigger keywords

The problem is, I am building a new site with keywords between 1-2k searches .. It would be a waste of money to spend $250 a month to rank them

if you're targeting 50 keywords but the site is low competitions, just start with 3-4 of them and the others will follow, if the site starts to get a couple of high quality links it will rank for more than the 3-4 keywords you're directly targeting. And besites, you're going to build links with naked urls/random(general) keywords as well, those will help the whole site grow.
Pick your main keywords and don't bother with the rest until you've ranked for those first.

A site with low competitions does not requires such amount of money. I always do it this way and it has worked for me over and over again.

After building the site, i wait for 3 weeks, and create manual web2.0s with unique articles. Build social signals to the web2.0s and wait for another 1 week or more and then buy seo service to the web2.0s.

Sometimes, this will rank the site on the top 20 to 30. To get to first page, you will need to build some more links... PBNs. etc.
Diversify your backlinks.

But if I have an authority website, i will definitely consider monthly service.

SEO is obviously quite expensive. It would be better to focus upon longtail keywords that have little to no competition.

Monthly plans means nothing by themselves. You need to have somebody who knows what he is doing. If you pay monthly plan that just means that you are stuffing money in somebody's hands and he is recruiting Pakistanis and Indies to do some crappy work for $100. You just need somebody who can provide high quality links and you will be ranked high. And you need to know that there is not necessary to rank for all the keywords but only for those keywords with high monthly searches.
For low competition keywords you need quality on page SEO and medium quality links and you will go fast to page one (probably).
