How effective is backlink spamming via a buffer site?

Sometimes people recommending if you go on a backlink-binge with LOTS of link/referrer/trackback spam...its good to use an intermediary buffer site and not direct link to your money site.

For example...instead of link-spamming to your money site you would spam some blogger or squidoo site which has your main link on it.

Now...how effective is this really?

I am aware of link wheels and how they work any everything...but im wondering whether it does anything good if i trackback/comment spam some blogger article. The main goal is of course strengthening SERPs of the main site!

Interesting question this which I was just about to post something myself...

I am a LFE user with access to many thousands of WPMU sites to post my links upon. The recommended way to utilise these is not (as you would first think) to post links to these MU blogs direct to your money site but instead utilise a trusted parasite as a buffer to your money site.

My question is this - your money site will in truth only recceive a single link from a trusted parasite which is in contrast to direct linking where you could receive many thousands of links to the money site.

Ok, the trusted parasite is backed up by those thousands of links flowing to it but just how much weight is a single link with all these links pointing to it worth and does this single link have more power than a thousand other links pointing directly to the money site?

I am sure there are some experts here with an opinion.

I have been struggling with this question as well for a while and would really like to know the answer to this one.

just imagine , if your money site is linked from page rank 1 and page rank 6 page , which will give you more weight ? Of course page with page rank 6 . So its same , you gave a lot of backlinks to parazite website (ex. squidoo) , and pass all backlinks weight from parazite site to your money making page.

So in theory then, the parasite site should obtain a hefty PR rank within a relatively short period and this powerful link is of course pointing to your money page?

So the aim here is to watch the parasite increase in PR......and rinse and repeat?

you can make many backlinks to your parasite site without worrying that your main page would be banned from SE . What you should do : create a link wheel around your money making site and get as many backlinks as you can to your link wheel .

I would think the purpose of LFE is to send many relevant links to your money site. If you send these to a buffer site first then LFE looses its main benefit i would think. You may as well get 1 high PR relevant link from somewhere else and it would be equal to all your efforts creating your LFE empire. Link popularity is still important and that's LFE's main benefit. I wouldn't use a buffer with it at all.

Thanks Blight - this is exactly what I am getting at here - one single link or hundreds to the money site, which is best? LFE experts do however advise to do it through the buffer parasite but at the moment I am trying both so will just have to see how is goes...

So far I haven't seen much success with this. Or it's too slow. I tried on LFe links.
