Hi everyone

I haven't ranked sites before but now I want to get serious about SEO for another source of income. I found a 49k/month keyword which will work perfectly for a content locker. I want to go ahead with this project but first I have some questions for you:

1) Should I get an aged domain or will a new one work just fine? Should I try to get an EMD?

2) Number 3-4 position are youtube videos and it looks like none of the other sites are getting any links so will I be able to rank with a few web 2.0s? My plan is to rank only for that keyword.

3) Could I expect to get into #1 within a month or two if I do it right or will it take much longer?

Sorry for the noob questions I just want to be sure before I start on this today thanks!

1) I suggest that you get an aged domain, since Google's mindset is that if you've been existing for a long time, you're probably publishing good content.

2) Not sure about this. You can try, though.

3) Looking at what you have accomplished so far, I think it would take a bit longer for you to get into #1. Try to mix and match your strategies. Study your techniques and see what works best. Then, be consistent.

1. You can go for aged domain and can do EMD but at the same time you have to do on page properly.
2. For no 2. I am not getting what you are trying to mean? Could you please explain more elaborately?
3. Getting ranking is time consuming as you follow white hat practice.

1. If you go with an aged domain it has to be very relevant (backlinks also relevant) to your niche. I've often seen it even better to have a fresh domain but then you need to build links yourself.
2. The fact YT videos don't have backlinks doesn't mean you can outrank them with a few web2.0. Usually it's not the case, and even if it is, your web2.0 need their own backlinks to juice it up. You can see with inurl and intitle queries on google how many sites are targeting the keyword in its title or url, or both. There's probably other sites with backlinks that haven't outranked the YT videos.
3. If you are just getting started then page 1 is good enough for the start. After that start thinking about #1, usually it's not that easy.

Thanks for the help everyone. I couldn't find an aged domain with this niche so I just went a new domain since I want to start learning to do everything myself. Wish me luck boys!
