How does this guy do this?! (Awesome Fiverr gig...)

I'm pretty sure he has a simulator with a particle element to the people. Then he slaps on a text and puts the people on the ground. The particle attribute will make the "particles" move around and stuff. You can do this with 3d modelling engines like 3ds max. I'm 100% sure he's using a paid plugin or something.

A one minute video. Probably takes him 5 minutes for each gig.

Short of hiring 1000 people, how does this guy do this Fiverr gig?

short of getting all those people and the requisite aerial device to take pictures from that angle

yep, this is done in a 3d app. This usually is for trees, grass etc, but you can do it for anything.
Cheap at 5 bucks. :)

He should have them waving at you!

That's obviously a simulator. Those persons don't look real at all..

LOL No, those aren't real people one can easily tell that, they are created using some 3D software or something. But yes it seems really awesome.

Similar to a whiteboard drawing gig that I saw other day. When I researched I found that there is a software named truscribe

It's like asking, how do FIFA and Konami make so many fans appear in a stadium during a match? Obviously, the people aren't real.

That is pretty cool indeed. I might even purchase that gig for a project of mine.
