How does Pinterest work? I don't get it lol.

Hi guys, I want to get into Pinterest because it has huge potential in driving traffic to buy products online. But I don't really get this Pinterest thing... I mean what's the point on pinterest, you search let's say "cars", see an image that someone already pinned on their account and you just simply pin it on your account too? I mean what's the point?
