How does Infolinks calculate earnings?

My site with Infolinks on it had nearly 3000 pageviews, with a ecpm of almost $9.00, but my earnings for the day were only $1.75. How does that make sense? Shouldn't my earnings for the day be around $27? I just started testing Infolinks yesterday, so I'm not quite sure how their earnings work. Their help center is very bad and I've already been waiting 3 days to get a response from their support.

Can anyone tell me why my earnings are so low, but the ecpm is high? Are the earnings not calculated right away or something?

I was using them for a while but figured out that they do more damage to the usability and readability of the site then bring earnings.

Pretty low earnings, ugly ads, not recommended...

If you modify the way they look their not that ugly. I only have 5 in-text ads per post, which really isn't that much if you have long post.

As far as earnings I wouldn't know. I think 9 dollars per thousand views is pretty solid, but I don't think I'm making that. Unless my earnings are just slow to update.

They are still ugly when compared to Adsense. If you have only 5 in-text ads then you can't expect much from it.

And regarding your ECPM question, remember that you are getting money from clicks, not impressions. ECPM is calculated like (CPC x CTR) x 1000 = eCPM

It says in the first article "eCPM is calculated by dividing total earnings by total number of impressions in thousands.". If my earnings show up as $1.75 for 3000 impressions, then why would the ECPM show up as $9.00?

I've used Adsense for years. How is their CPM different from Infolinks ECPM? I thought it meant the same thing. It calculates how much you made per thousand views.

When Adsense calculates ECPM, it calculates banner views (the banner is visible to each and every visitor on the page).
When InfoLinks calculate ECPM, they calculate when somebody puts his mouse on the contextual link and THEN looks the banner (not every visitor is calculated in). As you probably figured it out, and let me repeat myself, the banner for InfoLinks shows only when you put your mouse on the contextual link.


So, do not calculate NET PAGE VIEWS, which is in your case 4000, because they have no value here, the advertisement is showed not by page view, but by "mouse over". In stead, calculate AD VIEWS (the mouse hover/over thing), which is in your case 300. This means that if you had 1000 AD VIEWS (not NET PAGE VIEWS), you would have the ECPM, which is $9.


Let me repeat myself with my example:




So we are ignoring NET PAGE VIEWS and focus on AD VIEWS.

70 AD VIEWS brought me $0.86 with an ECPM of $12.28. This means that if I had 1000 ad views in one day, I would earn approx $12.28.


If you would like to increase the number of Ad Views, then increase the number of InfoLinks ads on your site.
