I want to know how Google works while ranking news websites as news are same all the time about particular keywords as it was a past event + If content by multiple sites on a niche keyword is the same/ giving their genuine opinion about a question then how google consider that this one to give better position then other one?

At times the content is even duplicate as it is syndicated from a single news source. News websites work on this content syndication model and Google is aware of this.

Sometimes the big news portals give a disclaimer at the bottom of the news that this piece of news has been fetched as is from source, Have you noticed it?

Long ago it was a notion that Google punishes duplicate content but then they made it clear that there is no such penalty. It only selects better page from a Google website, that's all about it.

Google just prefers the website that has more authority in this case and pushes that page ahead of others.

Google ranks news websites based on factors such as relevance, freshness, authority, user engagement, and diversity of sources. If multiple sites have similar content, Google considers factors like uniqueness, reputation, and user preferences to determine rankings.

Value added equal uniqueness ...from search engine perspective

news sites = old seo ;p
add much backlinks , add much visitors, good look no more

Mostly it's site authority, other factors include locations, relevance, user preferences, etc.

It depends on which website is more authoritative. For example, your website and CNN both have the same News post.:smirk:

When Google encounters duplicate content on multiple websites, it uses algorithms to determine the most authoritative and relevant source, considering factors like website reputation, user engagement, and other ranking signals.

When Google encounters multiple websites with the same or highly similar content, it aims to determine the most relevant and authoritative source to display in search results. It compares the content of these pages, looks for canonical tags that indicate the preferred version, and consolidates ranking signals to the chosen URL. Google considers various factors like backlinks, user engagement metrics, and domain authority to determine relevance and authority. The goal is to avoid displaying duplicate content and provide users with the most valuable and diverse search results.

Really? These big news sites have AP news access/license.
See my screenshot below, you see Google ranks the same exact article from 5 different sources ! Only the headlines are little bit rewritten the conten not.
So it looks like when you have an AP news license, then you rank in seo with double content ?
And all the seo gurus out there in the web telling you that double content will harm your seo, uh?
