how does google page rank works ??

hello there
ok forgive me first if this seemed too nooby

i got a website started from nell using joomla
i added it to bothe alexa and google webmaster

i noticed that my alexa rank improved with my visitors getting bigger 1day after another ( my site has very specific users ) so i was very pleased seeing that i broke the 200k barrier
but when i checked my PR it was still 0 .....

soo many of my visitors come from google search engine

so why is my PR still 0 ? and how can i improve it ?

note : i am intersted because i got a competitor site with 2 million in alexa ranking but still managed to get PR 1 /10

PR updates once every 3 months or so, hence why you won't see a jump in real time.

The calculation for PR is quite simple: 1 backlink = PR1, 2 backlinks = PR2, all the way to 10 backlinks = PR10.

Simple as that

, and PR100 and beats up google

just google it, the PR algorithm isn't publicly published but there are tons of diagrams which will let you in on the basic concepts

There is no direct relation with PR & traffic... Traffic comes with mix of optimized content and quality backlinks...

Havnig said, quality backlinks improves your PR. And as one of the hatters said " Alexa rank is nothing, its the must stupid thing to rely on)

All PR is really good for is increasing your crawl budget, which in turn will often have a knock on effect of beating out lower PR sites for main keyword SERP.

Trust Rank is more important but we cant tell the value assigned for that. Well afaik if someone has a tool that can estimate / accurately tell Trust Rank let me know.

Google uses other things. I am a PR3, and my index page (root) is outranked by two PR0 sub-pages on other domains.
