How is G determining what ranks higher in canada or the us?

I'm seeing different results when I proxy into US and search the same term.

Something on the first page for US, might be on the second for Canada.
Why's it doing this? AND moar importantly, HOW can I optimize for BOTH?

I have se nuke, xrumer and SB. If there are tricks and tips, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

1) .ca domains rank higher in Google.ca
2) sites hosted on Canadian servers rank higher in Google.ca
3) sites that have "Canadian" backlinks rank higher in Google.ca

For long term projects it's probably a good idea to create a site for each country that you target.

You can set up GWT to target a specific country.

Google has several regional services that actually creating this differences. if the ip matches or close to a google region then the sites belongs to that are ranked higher; however, i think rank calculation is done upon a parentage of usual criterion.

that didnt answer my question though.

I want to make sure that my site, hosted OFFSHORE because it's illegal. is coming up #1 for ALL COUNTRIES.

it's a .com, im not trying to specifically get more traffic from one country or another. I want them ALL to be #1.

Webmasters who target their websites to a country in Webmasters tools factors in too.

say i am targeting us and in gwt i have the site setup for us, but all my backlinks are from canada. will my website be able to rank on us if there ain't any backlink from us and just from canada ?

in other words, will google pass the linkjuice that i get from canda and use it as well for us rankings, or will it use it only for canada ?

It's a difficult question. Not my own experience, but IMHO you should be able to rank well in Google.com

Does anyone know for sure though? I mean, senuke scrapebox and xrumer are most likely posting on canada and us sites in their networks.

So, how do I ensure that I get results in both? It's not like I can just set seNUKE to target canadian blogs after I'm #1 on us and need #1 on canada.

???

Also, if you guys know of any information on this, please share.

Any links, other threads, etc. Cant find much.

dasmoot, I think you won't be able to rank N1 in both Google.com & Google.ca for any competitive keywords, except for EMD maybe.

How many keywords do you target?

Dasmoot,

Geotargeting your backlinks is one way to rank higher on a specific country level Google SERP. If you want to increase a pages rank in Canada you need to target sites with a .CA domain. Another example would be the UK if you want to rank higher than having a .UK Domain with .UK Backlinks will rank higher than a .UK Domain and General TLD Domain Backlinks.

Best of luck,
GoldenGlovez

I agree with those others that say that if you target us, get backlinks from .com domains.

Targeting canada to? Make a new site for the long term. Build backlinks from .ca domain.
