Yes indeed. It helps a lot in ranking a website. Here are some points why it's advantageous to keep blog articles posted. It keeps your site fresh. It also can help you target keywords. For audiences, it can make them stay on your page for longer. Moreover, it provides opportunities for internal linking, which is crucial when it comes to SEO.
 
I think blogging is a great opportunity when you produce articles which have relevant SEO Content. I dont like blogs about internal news concerning To the firm. Something like christmas event. Its Not interesting for users only for the company. 98% of all Websites use a blog wrong because of ignoring the siloing-principles, which are important for the whole Information architecture.
 
It helps your website as it boost your website SEO. It could, in a way provide relevant info to your customer queries.
 
It also helps you provide an indication that your site is 'active' - inactive sites could be linked to spam, thus, an active one will provide a better metrics to your site from the search engine. Also, if your site has authority, that will automatically list any blog articles for long tail easily, which brings in traffic to your site.

I get nearly 80% of my traffic through our blog. To be honest, I didn't target the best keywords but still... So yeah, blogging helps with ranking.

First it shows your audience that your website is having fresh content and it helps a lot with ranking. My recommendation is to have minimum of 4 new posts a week 500 words (each).
 
I am going to be the opposite of everyone: blogging will hurt your site most of the times if you keep posting related content as your money page! here is why: often times you want to write about related topics as your money page; doing this, ends up confusing google on which page to rank and hence will hurt your money page getting to number #1 position.

please go and investigate real difficult niches, and see how they leverage blog. You will be surprised!! even if they do, they only have few posts and those posts do not compete with money page. their post is meant to get rank for a particular phrase

for example check out hartlevin dot com ... number #1 page for los angeles dui lawyer
 
I use blogging to sell more products. Each post has another product to buy. I don't use it to rank, I use it to sell.
