I have been out of the SEO/IM game for a while now, I have been reading about all the changes over the last couple years trying to catch up. But I have noticed that I still frequently see blogspot blogs on the first page, how are these people ranking bloggers so easily still?

Because the people who own it also own the search engine you're probably using :-p

Google will always show love to their products. Its only right.

Haha well we've all always suspected that, but I mean is there anything else to it ? Like can you really just spam blogger with links and rank without worry still pretty much ?

IF you send numerous spam links over a short period of time to a newly registered blogspot account you must be ready for a negative surprise :). Web 2.0 platforms and especially WordPress and Blogspot will remove without hesitation any account that uses spam links in order to do SEO.

My advice: Register an account today, populate it with a few unique articles, give it some time and then start to build links to it, with a slow but steady pace. You could build 301 redirects arount it in order to be more safe.

It's owned by Google and has tremendous authority. Even if it wasn't a Google property the authority of the site would make the blogs hosted there easy to rank with just a few links.

Get some expired accounts and the rankings come that much easier.

Just wondered how the link building/SEO rules have changed for ranking blogger over the last couple years if at all ? Sending 50,000 spam links in 24 hours is one thing, but to rank blogger currently do you really need to do a proper 3 tier backlinking pyramid ect. ?

Have you ever heard about ranking parasites? Well, this is an example. You should treat your blogger blog as your moneysite if you want to rank it, but you gotta build some nice backlinks to it, not PBN but some web 2.0 may do the trick.

Building spam links to blogger can still work. Not as easy as it used to be though.

The most imp thing that matters is ur keywords and in page seo.....

can you elabortate on the in page seo ?

also is it best to build backlinks to the home blogger page or the individual posts ? Like shouldn't building backlinks to the home page filter link juice down to posts so that when you make new posts the existing backlinks will help boost the new post without doing much backlinking to the actual post page ? I have seen a lot of bloggers where the post has almost no backlinks but tons of keywords are ranking and the home page has all the backlinks.
