I came across this website with a lengthy video where a man and then a woman ramble on about how you can lose weight while they draw text and cartoons. I honestly can't see anyone sitting through 20 minutes of video, then actually purchasing. Ads like this have been on sites like weather.com, where advertising can't be cheap, for years, so it must be successful. Why, is the question? Do people go to the bottom of the page, to the disclaimer, desperate to find something to click or where they can buy it, instead of sitting through the endless nonsense? It baffles me. What are your thoughts?

well if they r able to continue funding the ads then they must b having conversions;)

It's odd, but quite a few of the top weight loss products on CB have changed to this video sales format during the last 12 months or so, so one can assume there is something in it.

I think once people start watching the drawing process they feel compelled to carry on to find out the ending...like once you start listening to a story.

Also, you are likely to stay to watch for a bit even if the subject isn't all that compelling for you because you are interested in the drawing. It is our human nature that once we have invested something in an activity, even if it is just a few minutes of our time, we are loathe to admit that time is wasted and for that reason will carry on watching.

There are buy/get buttons on that website the instant you land, didn't you see them?

True, there are buttons on there if you visit the url above.
If you find and click the ad on weather.com with the affiliate link in there, there are no buttons and the purple header is removed except for a few tiny links in the footer.
I don't care if you have that specific problem, then sit and watch for a few minutes, but this video goes on for 15 to 20 without displaying buy buttons. (They appear via an ajax call.) The odd thing is that I've seen the same long video technique for a few other products other than weight loss. It must be converting.
