How do you track you affiliate programs?

I know there are many ways and methods to track the performance of specific affiliate programs and pages on your site.
I have been trying BeMob and other softwares, but ultimately landed on Google Tag Manager, because of the easy integration with Google Analytics.

What is your preferred method to track affiliates? And how do you prefer to make affiliate links on your site?

Are you using www.domain.com/recommend/affiliatename or just plain affiliate links?

I use events with google tag manager. You can customize everything you want

You can always use a tracker - this will prevent the affiliate program from shaving your traffic, and you will see real click-throughs indicators
