Hello, I am wondering how someone would go about coding or making a site like thisiswhyimbroke.com

Do you think they hired someone to make the site for them?

What kind of coding would you need to make this site? Did they perhaps make their own custom wordpress theme/templates?

I don't want to duplicate the site, i just am trying to learn how this stuff works.

Yes, they will have had it done for them.

Have a look at a theme called webicator. You'll need to tweek it, but it was created to be similar to TIWIB. Check out a site called brokezilla.com. It is basically a clone of TIWIB but it was originally built on the webicator theme

Just a side question. Will using the clone of TIWIB design get into any legal issues with TIWIB or even from Amazon? Cos I've got someone who's interested in setting up a site similar to TIWIB but i'm not exactly sure of any legal implication ...

Any thoughts?

It's a custom site, they just hire a coder to do that
