Internal linking is often overlooked. For white hat SEO, what kind of internal link structures are working best flat, deep silos, or something hybrid?

From my experience, a hybrid works best. A flat structure alone can spread link equity too thin, while deep silos risk isolating content. Combining topical silos for authority + cross linking between related posts usually balances crawlability and relevance.

A hybrid usually works best.
Flat helps Google crawl fast, silos keep content organized, and mixing both gives balance — strong topical clusters but still easy clicks from homepage.

Flat linking helps spread authority, but combining it with siloed topic clusters usually gives the strongest on-page SEO results.

The smartest approach is usually a hybrid: keep important pages shallow enough to be reachable in a few clicks, but organize related content into siloed clusters so authority flows naturally. Link contextually within content rather than stuffing menus, and always prioritize user navigation—Google rewards pages that make sense to humans first.

A hybrid usually works best: keep main pages easy to reach, but group related content in silos so authority flows naturally. Contextual links in content beat just menu links.

Hybrid internal linking works best for SEO because it balances authority distribution with clear topical relevance, which search engines now prioritize.

A mix works best for me. I use both category links (silos) and some flat links between related posts. It helps search engines find everything easily.

For me, a method that works well: A pillar article that contains links from secondary articles. And to give your pillar article more "juice," in each secondary article, point to the pillar article and link horizontally with other secondary articles. A to B C D E, then B C D E to A, and B to C, D to E, etc.

Hey! For white hat SEO, internal linking really depends on your site size and content.

Flat structure: Works well for small sites. Everything is close to the homepage, so link equity spreads easily.
Deep silos: Good for large sites with lots of content. Keeps topics organized and helps search engines understand site hierarchy.
Hybrid: Often the best choice. Use a siloed structure for main topics, but link between related posts inside silos. This balances hierarchy and link juice flow.

Basically, organize your content logically, and make sure every important page gets some internal links.

I usually build topic clusters and interlink them like mini webs instead of strict silos.

Deep silos with uneven distribution of link juice helps us get targeted traffic for higher value.
