How do you stay anonymous with crypto transactions? ️‍♂️

How anonymous is lightning network? Many of my hosting customers asked me to provide lightning payment method as fees are lower and more anonymous than BTC.

Almost impossible & not worth the effort for most people. Everyone usually slips up & leaves traces of themselves.

If you really want to become more anonymous (to be accurate, pseudonymous, because you have a stable on-chain identity because your address stays the same):

- Never touch a Centralized Exchange. If you must use one then use a no KYC exchange like MEXC or BloFin, but never connect it to your credit/debit card. Also bear in mind that in the future these exchanges may require KYC and/or get regulated by authorities & have to give up your usage data.
- Over the Counter (OTC) transactions with real-life brokers, swap Crypto for hard cash or physical assets like gold only if you need to offboard but be extremely careful if you do this
- Tornado Cash for swaps
- Trade on Decentralized Exchanges to swap coins, but note that some of them will log your IP to see where you're transacting from, so VPN from a location in which they're available & the IP won't matter
- Avoid off-boarding from Crypto in general
- Avoid onboarding your own money in general and try to acquire/hold Crypto only from Day 1.
- Transact through privacy projects like Monero.

These are some ways in which people remain anonymous.

First is First, you need to use a card or bank details to buy any cryptocurrency, including Monero, which can expose your identity. Cash deposits or direct cash payments only work in peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions. However, banks are now freezing accounts, and if a vendor's account is frozen, all real money transactions with that vendor will also be affected. We've seen this happen with major exchanges like Binance, where many bank accounts have been frozen.

I have successfully used this method CryptoVoucher and OffGamers CodeToCash to purchase 'CodeToCash eVouchers instead of cryptocurrency it tricks we purchase game eVocher.

Disadvantages: For some countries, a semi-KYC process is required, which may include providing an email address, phone number, and sometimes an ID number (but not a photo or selfie). Additionally, you may charge a fee of 20% to 40% depending up on Currency. However, if anonymity is your priority, this method is quite effective.

Second Method: I haven't tried this method yet, but it involves depositing cash on a casino website, converting it to cryptocurrency, and then withdrawing it to a cold wallet or exchanging it after realizing a profit or loss. You can then deposit the cryptocurrency back into the casino and withdraw it as cash, which will reflect your profit or loss with the casino not from crypto. For this method, I am looking for a trusted casino website that allows indirect cash deposits and withdrawals to ensure safety.

Crypto isn’t as private as many think.
Crypto's privacy is actually fine. It's all about what level of anonymity the user chooses.

It's just like the internet. Some folks are cool with a direct connection to a website, others need a VPN, and then some will go for the darknet.

Staying anonymous with crypto really comes down to how much you're willing to compartmentalize your digital footprint. A few general tips I’ve picked up:

  • Avoid linking on-chain activity to KYC platforms unless necessary
  • Use fresh wallets for each use case (segregation helps)
  • Consider P2P routes if you're looking to stay off centralized radars
  • Don't underestimate browser hygiene and metadata leaks

There's also a lot happening in the peer-to-peer space lately — some setups are much more discreet than others. If anyone’s navigating this space and wants to exchange notes or strategies (off-thread), feel free to ping me for wallet to wallet service.

if you're serious about staying anonymous, you gotta treat every wallet like it's disposable
we ran promo for a privacy coin once - rotated wallets, used mixers, shilled through burner tg accounts - no footprints, no regrets :)
