When buying domains for flipping, what signals do you look for? Brandability, length, extensions, past sales comps, niche trends, AI related keywords? Curious how experienced domain investors evaluate a name before pulling the trigger.

Hi kingkong2222,

For flips, I think less in terms of “signals” and more in terms of liquidity.

Brandability, length, and extension all matter, but only insofar as they affect how quickly the name can find the next buyer.

Immediate clarity. If you have to pitch the concept, it’s already harder to move.

To be fair, they all matter. But brandability is often subjective. If the domain passes the radio test and has tangible traffic/SEO value, you've got a winner.

If you are new to the game, focus on new extensions which might have bright future. Most of the people go for short ones. But it still requires lots of efforts as the most of the good ones are already registered. Keep the character count low and its should sound like a brand name or have exact match keyword.

Yeah I agree. Short and brandable is still king. New extensions can work if there’s real demand behind them, but it’s definitely more effort since most of the obvious good names are gone. Keeping it clean, low character count, and easy to remember makes a big difference.

Short clean .com with clear meaning sells best. Check past sales comps and search demand before buying. Avoid long random names even if trend sounds hot.

honestly it is a very broad question it all depends on what are your investment strategy.
SEO domains will have different metrics to watch out for than lets say a 4L.com etc.. so it all depends on what you invest in
Agree

I usually look for short, easy to remember names and niches that are growing. Also checking past sales and whether the name sounds brandable helps. Simple names with real business use tend to have better resale potential.
