So, for the last few hours I've browsed various universities papers about how to correctly sit when you use to be a lot at your desktop/laptop.

Do you care as I suppose you stay 6+ hours a day being in an IM forum?

If yes, what precautions do you take?

Well, I don't know about other people, but I normally sit down using my face.

That's how all the cool kids sit.

I don't know nothing about that. I'm using my laptop from the bed.
My stomach is the mouse pad, wireless laser mouses rulz btw. :)

No one can sit all day with their back completely straight.

Just don't hunch over and you should be fine

I usually switch between my chair and couch from time to time. Chair for my business face, sofa for my chillax or more boring work.

1 serious answer out of 10. That's bhw's lounge I guess.

You cannot possibly have been looking for serious answers in the lounge.

We don't even take ourselves seriously in here.

Most of the time, I sit in the correct position as I want to continue having proper posture.

However, I occasionally either end up slouched over or in this weird position where I have one leg over the arm of my chair and I lean my body against the backrest of my chair in a contorted position.

I will definitely be buying one of those standing desks when The Wife tells me I am allowed.

Look into a treadmill desk. Rock 2mph (3.2km/h) and if you work a solid six hours in a day and weight 200 pounds you've burned 1,300 calories without even really being aware of it.

Treadmill desks man. The way of the future.

Thought they were just for hipsters but just been reading some reviews because of your recommendation and they sound awesome. Looking into them now.

I try to follow the best posture rules. Whenever I catch myself slouching, I fix it.
After reading about long term office worker health problem associated with their back, I really don't want to end up like them. Proper posture technique and stretches for back/shoulders/neck are in my daily routine.
Never tried standing desks but in theory they sound cool. Same with yoga ball chairs. All of my leather chairs get torn apart from constant use. I got tired of buying one every year. I found a herman miller aeron last year on Craigslist which are very popular for offices. So far I'm pleased with the build quality.
