How do you set up test pages?

i was reading about setting up test pages to see if your product moves into marketplace before you actually do the leg work of importing it ...this way you don't end up being stuck with large merchandise.
MY QUESTION IS, how do you make a legit looking test page that actually conveys some trust...In the 4 hour work week he said to use weebly but how can you really make a legit looking site in weebly? And what about registering a domain name, do you just use the stock one from weebly and test the site via PPC? Any tips on setting up test pages would be highly appreciated.
