How do you set custom thumbnails?

I'm sorry, I have nothing of substance to contribute here. But, I'll be watching this thread.
 
He may be a full YouTube partner, however, YouTube does plan on releasing custom thumbnails to everyone who has an account in good standing very soon. (may have already started but not sure)

Other than that, i do remember seeing some threads on how to cheat custom thumbnails but don't recall whether or not is worked or if it still does.

I thought everyone knew this :D Best method for video thumbnail would be putting the static picture at the end of the video for about a 1 minute or so... then go into your video manager, edit thumbnail choose the last one, go to video editor and then cut out the last minute. You will have your custom thumbnail...

Maybe they're rolling it out in waves and this guy just happened to be in the first wave?

Skittles, I've done what you suggest as well. It only works with certain videos, though. Some, it just doesn't seem appropriate to have the 1min static image...but good point.

I once spent 20 minutes searching YouTube for a way to add custom thumbnail and no one mentioned this?
 
YT is rolling this out to everyone, as I suspected in my earlier post. I have three channels that are not partnered that now have the ability to add custom thumbnails. So, if you're not yet able to add the custom thumbs - just hang tight and it will probably be coming your way soon.
 
I hope this don't make YT a place full of misleading thumbnails.
 
Yup Youtube is rolling this feature out to all good standing accounts with high daily views and new videos. One of my accounts got the custom thumbnail option and that channel only has about 800 subscribers and 1.5million views.
