Such a grey area, Google say they ignore them but if someone does it right, it looks like you have done it and they normally target anchor texts fucking up you ratios and over doing it on exact anchors but I think the majority of attacks are easily spotted by Google and not methodical neg attacks.
They normally just send a load of shit links which is whey more links than the site normally receives and the anchor text is viagra or some bollocks.
Fucking stressful when you’ve built a site and these clowns can’t compete so they get desperate.

Please, help me understand: everyone here responds as if you're being massively sent crappy backlinks with anchor texts like "Viagra", etc., but apparently, it's the other way around? They're Google-bombing your main anchor text (is it the name of your business?) and direct it to shitty stuff, like Dan Savage did to Rick Santorum in his vicious 2003 "campaign to define the word santorum"? Am I correct, or all wrong?

You should first disavow these links through GSC. Then contact the site owners to ask them to remove the links. Document everything just in case
