as per the title says how you do it ?

what’s your process to brainstorm and research about stuff and also how good/bad are you at it?

if i have to start i am pretty bad at researching or turning the on this machine that i have in my mind and when it does it overpowers me- so yes really bad but working on it and looking forward to your thoughts on it

Read Articles, Watch Youtube videos on your interest, Set your Google news to personalised ad and when you search for your niche in google search results they will show you all the relevant content on your related interests. That is only a few ideas but there is plenty out there. Instead of you searching for it let google bring it to you.

I have done a couple of product and business development researches.
The more you study a subject the more interesting it gets (before you start hating it I guess).

I start by searching on the topic, YouTube videos would be the most entertaining start. If the topic is more scientific and fresh, you better look at all the university researches done and read the patents online.

Researching is broad. It is a different process to research a new product than to say research environmental damages of a policy.

But it all can definitely start on YouTube. It gives you enough dopamine to stay interested where else reading scientific papers is painful.

I think youtube videos and articles the best way to research. Take note when you do

What type of research are you talking about? Niche research, keyword research, research for an article, business type research? Each of these requires a different set of skills, if you're not that good at one, it doesn't mean you won't excel in another.

Exactly what I was going to say lol. What kind of research is it? half assed questions are a sign of people who lack obvious research skills imo.

This works every time and for any domain: Write sub-sections of a domain on cards, mix the cards and then randomly choose about 3 to 5 of them, you will get combinations you never thought about, that can turn into brilliant projects.

but how do you know which sources to trust for what you’re looking for ? like yes youtube and articles are helpful but most of these they’re babbling nothing but shit. Information that, first neither is of use second is of misleading nature

my bad i just thought it was clear enough but yes i’m talking about niche research or business type research or research on some blurry ideas that one have in their mind

Usually when multiple sources give the same information, the information can be trusted. I wouldn't blindly trust a source with a business idea.

You find the authenticity by Cross-checking the information and in most topics no one takes the time to upload misleading information.

You should not consider available information "useless" before you spent months researching the topic.
It's the internet era, research was never this easy, you are complaining too much.

Yes, even I was thinking about this before answering this thread :D

OP has clarified that in his next reply.

You need to identify the authority of the source of information yourself. For example if I am reading any article about any topic in IM in websites like search engine journal, search engine watch, brian dean, harsh agrawal, etc. then I know the information is trustworthy. There are many other trustworthy sources of authentic information too.

If you are new to IM, then you should take some time to search and go through them and you will realize their information is always useful and trustworthy.

You will find many good ideas from there too!
