I have a number of critical questions which I need to know in order to reliably make an efficient action plan in successfully ranking my website. To make it more specific:
- My website is on a medium difficulty niche,
- with 4-6 competitors on first page for that keyword search (non-authority sites). Plus a few .gov sites.
- However in terms of quality mine is as good if not better than most. 44 articles 44000 words roughly, all hand-written and unique.
- Using basic silo structure with main keyword, sub keywords (categories) and article columns in each category.
- 535000 exact match search results.
I started making it last year and it was my first site, I learned word press and a lot of other basic things. I wasted a lot of time on themes and just generally not knowing what to do. In the end I made a pretty good looking site, however the ranking/backlinking element wasn't there, so it wasn't ranking, even though in terms of quality it is good enough. For a brief moment I had some sub keyword searches in the 40-100 range, but very little traffic. 250 visitors all up in 6 months. So my questions are about ACTUALLY ranking sites, to get traffic, aka money.
1. Comparing on-page and off-page seo... which one is weighed more by google as of 2014? Besides penalising for ad-stuffing etc, because I built around 20 back-links of high pr and nothing really changed.
2. When it comes to off-page seo, how do you build high quality and quantity backlinks to compete with the giant web developers out there, without having that manpower or money?
If i think of more I will ask them. All help is useful. Fedez.
