Hi, I have some niche sites and I'm trying to target longtail keywords on the same niche.
When you want to rank for lets say "house building equipment" in the house building niche. Do you publish a new article using that anchor text in the article body then send backlinks to that link? Or can you just send backlinks to your homepage targetting that keyword without having to write an article about that keyword? Thanks!

If you write an article about that keyword and build links to it, it will rank faster and higher than if you did the same with your homepage without using the keyword in your homepage's title.

you need to have the keyword in the article. AKA on-page SEO. you could link to your home page if you have the long tail you want to rank for in your main page article.

Usually you will want to focus on a main keyword for each article but you can have multiple long tails in each article that you will probably rank for as well if your main keyword is the ranking

Exactly - you could technically build the links to your homepage and increase your rank. But it doesn't make sense to do it the difficult way

Google love long articles.
Use the Primary Keyword in the H1 Title, and 10 secondary different keywords in say a 1000-word article and then write about 10 of such articles and link internally to each other and the home page

You rank long tail keywords the same way you rank short tail keywords.
