How do you promote each new article?

Hey,
What do you mean promotion to your landing page to the long string of each page?
When creating a new page/post you want to promote it through various methods IE socials, related comments etc.
I wouldn't just build backlinks to your home page as that is not natural, id recommend spreading the promotions and building links to a variation.

yes thats what i meant sorry. So you promote each and every blog post you make? with the full url of each post? any tips on how to find good forums etc to promote?i heard a bit of talk about doing google searches for website in the last 24 hours that have commenting available or are forums, just not sure on the actual procedure
i have a twitter account, whats a good method for developing followers? how do you get people to join your sm pages?

You want to become part of the communities - if you simply join a forum and post your URL its a quick way to get banned. The same goes for twitter, join conversions that are related to your niche. You will find if you comment and follow then you will often get followers back, just need to make sure they are in your niche.
Depending on your niche Pinterest would be a good option, I find that tends to drive more traffic for me than the other social networks.

Nowadays, it's best to promote your articles through social media. It doesn't improve SEO but it can help you traffic.
im not, i was asking which way SHOULD it be promoted, all this information has been helpful so far, thank you everyone. when you comment on tweets etc, are you able to link back to yourself in the tweet or are you just looking to get your name seen?
I agree with you. What is the use of creating articles when no one will read them? Of course find an audience that will be interested in the topic you are presenting.

- create a fan page and use fb ads to get some targetted traffic to like the page
- create a twitter account and follow people in your target demographic
- post on sub-reddit's that pertain to your niche

Yes, of course.. promoting articles via social medias will be a good tactic. It's better and efficient method.

Reddit can be a good place to promote your blog, if you can find the right subreddit for your content.

Write a piece of content? It should be part of an overall campaign for your site/brand. If I were you I would create:
-several web 2.0's link back to each piece of content, write a unique summary of the article with a link back to the article.
-Do niche no-follow and follow blog comments.
-Create a summary ppt presentation and submit it to slideshare sites.
-Create some sound bites and get a sound file link.
-Look for wiki content that needs links, incorporate the content into your content if you can, a wiki link is great authority.
-Doing niche guest blogging with sites that allow deep contextual links.
-Find influencers and sharers in your niche, using buzzsumo or ninja outreach, and send em a tweet and email to check out the content (if it adds value)
-make an infographic of the content and submit to image sites and influencers and sharers in your niche.
-A couple of social bookmarks, and forum links should give you the diversity you need to promote your content.
Everyone recommends social shares, of course do that too!
