GMB spam filter has gone crazy
if I change the business name in any way (add a space, remove a word, add a word) GMB gets suspended.
but I see people change their GMB names all the time and they dont get suspended?
is there a trick that they use to avoid suspension?

You have spammed your name too many times now your account has been flagged by google algorithm nothing you can do. A new gmb can get away with 5 name changes after that your risking suspension.

You can ask other persons having Google Local Guide accounts to suggest name change for your GMB.

This is the correct way to do it.

Sometimes it's easier to get changes done through the API

I have the knowledge to answer this now. First replace the gmb owner with another email of yours. And get rid off all other emails associated with your gmb. Add a trusted gmail account to your gmb. Preferably a trusted account that has never been on your IP and never on your flagged devices. Have this account do the name change and you’ll be good 90% of the time. Local guide that’s trusted or a gmail that’s trusted hold the same weight. You want a editing account that has built trust not a review account that’s level 10. Level 5 editing account that has lots of approved edits 100 plus and for my trusted editing account I will only do the edit if it’s your DBA. This will make it difficult for you so stop breaking google guidelines. Change your DBA and anyone usually an seo will be happy to provide this service for you. Or get temporary suspension and I can walk you through reinstatement if your following the rules.
