I'm always worried I'm messing up keywords when making content. Like... Say I wanted to target the keyword "Cucumber Pizza" -- Would writing something like "This article is going to show you how to make the best Cucumber Pizza ever!" not work? I just keep wondering/worrying that my keyword will instead be "best cucumber pizza ever".

Or other things that cross my mind...
"Ever tried Cucumber Pizza?"

The only thing I can think of is separating the keyword with small words like this:
"Have you ever tried a Cucumber Pizza?"
"How many times have you tried a Cucumber Pizza and liked it?"

Anyways.. Sorry if this is a dumb question.. Any advice on how to learn more about this? (and how to write better for SEO?)

"This article is going to show you how to make the best Cucumber Pizza ever!" not work?
You can rank for many keywords like Cucumber Pizza, best Cucumber Pizza, best Cucumber Pizza ever, the best Cucumber Pizza ever, the Cucumber Pizza, etc. Google will see all the words in your content and decide which keywords to rank you for, even 2 words not together like article to make Cucumber Pizza, etc. There is not need to overthink that part, just write naturally and include your main keywords here and there.

You are overthinking it way too much.

Just start with "Have you ever tried a Cucumber Pizza?" it's called long tail keywords.

You should get a KW planner also that shows the difficulty and your competitions SERP.

Just start writing and keep an eye on it, you can always optimize content.

Filter threads by member phpbuilt. He discusses the exact stuff you are asking about. Also google stop words to separate keywords in text.

Gotchseo website has good onpage guide including keyword positioning.

Google also matt digety onpage seo guide.

Good luck.

Also, maybe more important than kw positioning is semantic relevancy of the text. Which is basically puting as much as possible relevant kw in there. Thus, covering topic completely.
