As the title said, how do you experienced flippas pick domain names if you were planning on selling startup websites. I am talking about made to flip sites. Do you do keyword research? or just choose some popular keyword and look for available domain or look for a hot trend?

Hey good question. It really depends on the angle your going to take when flipping and the type of site your going to flip. If for example your developing a clickbank mini site and product then you want a smoking hot catchy domain name eg Traffic Storm or Niche Commando, no KW research required. If its an adsense site the the domain should be keyword rich and rankable (i just made that word up) as this will be a selling point. If its a revolution blog style site then probably a little bit of both. So as you can see there is no one answer to this.

Hey I guess I am talking about the revolution blog style startup flipping. can u elaborate a little bit on 'a little of both'? because I am not able to see any definitive pattern in how people choose domain names for these blogs. sometimes the keywords have good no. of searches. sometimes not at all. even then the site is selling w/o problems.
The one constant factor I am seeing for the sites that sell is the inclusion of wprobot. But it is $500 lol. I am not there yet.

What I mean by a little bit of both is this - If the niche site for example is skin care there maybe many low competition high search keywords but they may not necessarily make an attractive domain name from a buyers point of view eg howdoigetridofallthoseblackheadsallovermyface.com It needs to be rankable and attractive to a buyer or you could just choose any that sounds good its your choice. Most buyers of those blogs are clueless so SEO makes no difference to be honest.
I think wp robot is a major selling factor however Im guessing most of those sellers dont have a developers license so thread carefully.
There's One Simple thing you need to do.
Simply check what gets offer in the area you try to sell in, In your case undeveloped sites.
Make up a list in a txt or excel doc..
What do the sites that gets bids have in common?
What do the sites that get 0 bids have in common?
And work from that
