I see a lot of sites with a PR1-3 and maybe about 5-10,000 backlinks sitting in the top spots of lots of niches. I wouldn't call them authority sites but they seem well entrenched in their spot.

If I wanted to use xrumer to outrank one of these, how many backlinks is it going to take to upset these sites assuming my site is brand new? Are we talking 10s of thousands or millions or what?

Personally I think if your site is brand new, the age of your website and age of your backlinks will have a big effect. Build your links naturally (slowly at first increasing over a period of time) and try to go for higher quality links rather then higher quantity.

    tygrus,

No one can give you an exact answer because it depends on the niche market.

If you are competing for "car insurance", then you'll have a harder time.

You should run xrumer once a week for a month and see what that does.

bobby, I should have clarified. These aren't super broad searches like car insurance. They are tighter long tail keyword niches that have under 20k searches per month.

    Bobby or anyone,

What kind of blast are you talking about once a week?

10,000 a week and are you talking about profile or forum?

    Should I ping them?

My site is over a year old and one two of my main keywords one is 10th spot on 1st page and the other is 8th spot of the 2nd page but can seem to get them to move...

    Thanks a million,

    And have a blessed one..

well if you are still starting xrumer won't do you good yet. It would only get you black listed of having that backlinks in just a short period of time. Build them links slowly first. Let it age a little bit. Then xrumer it. The age that i am saying is that let it run through 2 google dance before you xrumer blast it.

You need to build "link velocity" and xrumer blasts won't do that. I'm talking come up with a number of links you think you can make every day and then do that...it'll appear much more natural.

How long is that? 3-6 months before each major blast?

Tygrus, if it's a smaller niche, I think your best bet is piggy-backing off the age and authority of a web 2.0 platform.

I currently outrank wikipedia on a 3 million result keyword (single word, broad, not long tail)

I did it with the brutal power of high PR comment spam, and using a web 2.0. I wouldn't attempt something like that with a new site.

So you can either build quality links and slowly raise above your competitor in several months, or try and get in faster by using the authority of an aged domain like a web 2.0 platform. Obviously, the drawback is that you no longer own the site.

Google gives a lot of weight to the established sites, it's very hard to compete with them, but backlinks do help a lot.

With Bing arquiring yahoo search engine this/next month, backlinks are even more important with bing, so you are on the right tract, i don't think there's anything else you can do.

buy an old expired domain and blast the sh*t out of it with everything.

i got an expired domain with a keyword that gets 25,600,000 results and 450,000 exact searches for 1 keyword and 11,100,000 exact searches for second keyword

im currently sitting on page 2 for 2 major keywords. when i get to page 1 i will hit the jackpot.

    ive used 3 different sources

    godaddy auctions
scrapebox addon tdnam scraper (i think its called that. not in front of home PC now)
Market samurai - By far the best. it will bring the best to the top unlike the others. I picked up a 9 year old domain which i mentioned earlier for $6. i make about $60 a day off that domain now :)

Dude that is just for new sites. You don't xrumer blast a new site immediately. This are the things people go wrong. If you want proof go and blast your new site you'll see what i meant. ;)

I blasted a new site 7 months ago... It's still stuck in the sandbox. I dumped the URL and moved on to bigger and better things.

I would suggest build big and fast, just not to fast! I have had no problem with high PR blog spam. I have over 6k backlinks with a 6 month old URL. I was stuck in the sandbox for 3 months, I did what everyone on here said, and kept building links. After 3 months my website was ranked on the top page for 9-10 of my major keywords, with a fairly competitive keyword. However, my site has hit a brick wall. My site has not moved in over 6 weeks while I continued to build links and add fresh content. The few sites that rank higher are aged domains with real low backlink totals and lower PR. So it's obvious that google will not penalize an aged domain because a new site has more link power.

I have heard that if you register the domain for an extended period of time it can help over come this problem. Also content, coding and load time can be important factors that are often overlooked. But links are still the biggest factor and pain in the ass!
