Hello everyone,
Different platforms offer different metrics, which can sometimes be confusing.
I’m curious how members here generally evaluate progress and decide whether a strategy is moving in the right direction.
Thanks.

I track macro conversions (email signups, sales, qualified leads) attributed to social, not just platform metrics. A strategy works if it consistently lowers your cost per conversion over time. Engagement rates are diagnostic, but business outcomes are the true north.

It depend on profile followers/engagements growth to live method if working in all social app, some niches require convert/sales which are the volume to checkout growth of certain page.

Good question, with so many metrics across platforms, most people here focus on a small set that actually reflects progress: reach, engagement quality, and consistency of growth. If those numbers trend upward over time, it’s usually a sign the strategy is moving in the right direction, regardless of the platform’s extra data points.

Most people miss attribution - socials look good until you pipe traffic into your own stack + see what sticks. I tag every outbound with UTM + push through my own landing so I can see session depth, repeat visits, assisted conversions - not just last click fluff. If socials dont improve downstream metrics over 30-60 days I nuke the angle or swap content format, no emotional attachment. Platforms lie, your server logs dont.

You should only track conversion, the traffic can be higher and lower but the conversion is always the right way to track the progress

i measure my social media progress by followers growth website traffic views and conversion.

Fan growth and actual conversion rate

It's mostly about engagement these days. Counting followers and views means nothing anymore with 99% bots raiding all posts

Engagements (clicks, actions) are the only useful metric IMO
