Outsource what you can't do yourself
That's a blog post in itself. Great tips dude.I explode my blogging productivity by dictating my content.
With the exception of some of the work that I do for clients, I dictate all of my content-especially in-house blog content.
This has been a game changer for me.
In fact, I've started offering this service to some of my clients.
Why?
Well, if you're going to be writing content by hand, you'll be lucky if you end up with 2000 words of well edited high quality content at the end of each eight hour day.
How come?
When you write manually, chances are, by the time you hit the end of the paragraph, your mind is racing at a speed of 1000 miles per hour.
All these ideas come to you and you get this one brilliant idea.
You have to fight the temptation to delete what you just wrote because some better way of expressing your thought just came to mind.
What do you think happens when you finish that paragraph?
That's right, and an even better idea comes to mind.
You're basically chasing your tail.
So at the end of eight hours, you have basically rewritten your article several times over and it's still not perfect.
Worse yet, writers often suffer from analysis paralysis.
They're thinking, there has to be one piece of information that is missing, there has to be one particular angle that I haven't covered that would turn this piece of content from good to great.
So you're wasting all this time and emotional energy and mental focus, trying to find that "one last missing piece".
When you dictate your question off a few scribbled outline items, you are essentially accessing your personal expertise about the subject the same way as you would when you're typing everything out by hand.
The big difference is that you don't stumble into these time wasting mental loops.
Once you cover a specific point, you move on to the next point and the next point after that.
And once you have been doing this for several years, you know how to tighten things up with a solid introduction and a solid conclusion.
You're done.
What would have taken eight hours only takes maybe 10 to 15 minutes.
So you move on to the next one and then the next one after that.
On my good days I can reach 80,000 words per day, I'm not exaggerating.
Obviously, this assumes that I'm talking about stuff that I personally am expert in.
But even when it comes to topics that I've just read a couple of articles on, I do quite well.
I can clock in at a rate of 25,000 words per day without breaking a sweat.
So if you're looking to truly turbocharge your daily blogging work, look into becoming a dicta, blogger.
Dicta blogging can change your life.
Of course, this means that you have to think in a linear, clear, and logical way.
You can't just jump to conclusions.
You can't let your feelings overwhelm you so you're basically just jumping from point to point and then looping back, you can do that.
You basically have to think in a very basic way.
When a concept comes to mind because of an item on your outline, use your mental discipline to break it down into its most logical, basic, and obvious parts.
Then once you're done with that you move on to the next.
You also have to practice effective self-editing.
Finally, you have to get highly skilled and competent transcribers.
There are many incompetent transcribers out there that basically just crank out run on sentences.
They're clueless regarding clauses and the basics of sentence construction.
So once you have a system where you can attract such talent, you have all the ingredients you need to blast out a tremendous amount of content in no time flat.
My latest project involves several 100 pieces of content and I blasted through the 1 million word mark in a very short period of time.
I'm not some super genius, mind you.
If I can do it, you can do it too.
It just takes quite a bit of persistence because you're going to fail the first few weeks or even months you try this but eventually it's worth it.
Whatever hassles you went through at the beginning, we'll definitely be more than compensated for the extreme productivity that you will achieve later on in your journey.
Great post mate. Can you share the tools you use for dicta blogging. I saw that you are perhaps using Google docs. Any specialized tool like Otter or Noota you have tried?I explode my blogging productivity by dictating my content.
