How do you make your workplace or work interesting?

Work - life balance is very much important for Long run. Most of us spending in the workplace more more hours than at home, so making the Workplace interesting one Is the most and Immediate retirement.

How are you guys doing it? Make it more attractive and colorful.

For me Talking to the team every hour particularly with girls :) finding motivational. Not anything illogically but workwise and casual chat. Share your Interesting ideas and tips here.

Good for weekend thread.

I constantly challenge to improve something.
Taking my job for example, I see nothing as perfect.
There always for improvement, when I have spare time, I always review/audit my reports/processes/teams and see if I can improve them to make them more clearer/efficient or better.

I am a workaholic :weep:
So yes, I tend to find working very interesting.
I can be lost in my own world working on my next report/planning/draft for hours while enjoying myself as opposed to seeing it "it's work I gotta complete by due date xyz".

I also have my downtimes and all too :)

Dead serious.

You can be paid for your time, .e.g working 9-5 office work and you will be paid an hourly rate.

Your performance will affect if you get promoted or can apply for a better paycheck once a year.

When you switch to a project or workplace where you get paid on your abilities - for example - sales, then instead of being paid for your hours, you get paid on your performance and skills.
 
What also drives me forward at times is the feedback I receive
For example, last Friday, when I redesigned the team alignment roster for my supervisors
basing on certain conditions & other criteria's etc

& @lucky.sparks While that is very true, I personally don't work just looking to be promoted.
At times, a sense of achievement is worth a lot more than a new fancy title.
Could be an unpopular opinion here but it's my thoughts :)

I thought it was vice versa. Being paid for hours is excellent and the only way to work for a long time. I don't know anybody who would prefer performance based payments over hourly rate.
Some people who have worked for a month or two will say it's good but in a year or so they will change their opinion completely. Many want to change their carrer path for that reason.

Depends. Both worlds have their pros and cons.

I know plenty of people who better prefer stable, predictable office work.

And that's fine.

Imagine how cool is that when it's 5 and boom - you do not need to think about work anymore.

You leave all problems in office and go home w/o giving a fuck about what your boss is going through.

That's pretty neat if you ask me.

It's not that simple in typical IT and computer engineering jobs. They require to learn a lot and you just can't learn everything in office. So it all depends on who you are and your goals.

As I come from IT background, engineering especially, then I can say that it is that simple.

If not, change the company you work for until you get where you want to be.

Learning will never stop, but eventually you will be able to do it on the fly.
 
My workplace is my home so i can just fix anything anywhere, whenever and whatever i feels like.
Music , Lights and my Dog keep me on tracks all the time.
 
I need to decorate my office but I'm waiting to do the spray foam insulation after then ill kit it out and will share a photo at the moment it's just a dump. I'm going for a two tone set up. Black at the bottom, grey bar and then green above that I think.

The only thing decent is the views really.

I keep my work interesting in two ways:

1. I like to experiment with new products

2. I like to penny pinch the crap out of a new idea and get something for little cost as possible and sell for a decent markup.

If I get really board ill go to the farm.
