How do you make money with programming or your coding skills except freelancing?

program tools that you need for your day to day operations, as probably other people would need them too.

Create stuff people want to use and sell it on a subscription basis. =)

Automate revenue generating tasks in order to create passive income streams.

Any of the above are good. Why don't you want to do freelancing though?

code simple games and distribute them using unusual methods/ways

Your best bet is getting a job in programming. They can pay really well if you are good and they provide great job security because of the shortage of good developers.

I wouldn't recommend freelancing unless you have really, really researched it and weighed other options. You think you'll get to make your own hours and have no boss but in fact you have as many bosses as you have projects and they think they can call you at all hours to discuss bugs, improvements, features, etc.

If a job is not up your alley, get a freelance lob. For starters once you know the basics i would recommend a job because working in a team in a company will get you to learn some important stuff (versioning, testing, production vs dev environments).

The best way is to develop your own products or services. Although promoting/selling them requires experience in other fields as well.

Freelancing sucks, I used Elance in the past and you have to complete with people who will work for basically nothing. Employers want you to work like a dog for nothing and drag out projects and payments. So yes, freelancing sucks.

Learn Objective-C, build an app, or get a regular programming job.

Yes I think this is the best way but, what kind of products? This is the main problem for me, maybe it will always be the issue. I've never developed tools except internet marketing tools or bots so far.

I create a normal script and sell it under $5 to $10 (I charge more price for good script)

Try to make apps for iPhone , that will make you tons of money

if the reason why you don't want to freelance is because you wanted to be your own boss, then i suggest develop something using your programming skills something that people would need, market it, sell it, turn problems into a programming solution. that's your best option in my opinion. Goodluck. :)

You can look through startups, get some cool ideas and code something better yourself, tho keep in mind this is not a direct money making method. You would have to invest your time, pay for resources and then promote it. You can also prepare working prototype and find people that would like to invest in it. Otherwise just get a programming job (easiest and most reliable in most cases) ;]
