How do you know your backlinks have been indexed?

Well I have done a ton of profile backlinks and blog commenting recently. To get these indexed I made several RSS feeds (with 50 or so links in each feed) using html2rss, submitted the feeds using RSS Submit, then pinged the RSS feeds, and finally bookmarked them on several social sites.

So from reading other posts here using a similar technique these backlinks should get indexed within a few days at best.

Now since it was mentioned that we should not rely on yahoo explorer or other backlink software to show these links right away how do you guys know for sure these links have been indexed?

Do you guys check in Google by doing a "site:url of the profile link or blog post" to see if anything comes up in G?

From checking other competitors and the backlinks they have built (that show up in yahoo explorer for their site) I do similar building of backlinks to the same sites, but mine don't seem to show up even after a few weeks in yahoo explorer. What could be the issue?

Backlinks take times to show up.
Try to send some junk traffic to the sites where you put those backlinks. Sometime it will accelerate your backlinks detection.

It's normal, the backlinks databases are slow in this kinf of updates.

My suggestion is to keep linkbuilding and check only once in a while Backlink Checker & co.
I know for personal experience how much time you can waste (not to mention the frustration) compulsively checking the number of incoming links to a particular site (or any other kind of stats).

I like to use yahoo site explorer.

I normally wait at least a week to see if they are in there. But in the long run they will always get index

another thing to do every back link you create run in through pingler.com or something of that sort.

ScrapeBox has the easiest way to check tons of links indexed/not in both Google/Yahoo. Opposite to other suggestions I do check how links are getting indexed and if they stay alive (both with SB) to see which method produces links that stick and get indexed

I use the tools from SEObook and then just search "site:url" in my browser like you mentioned. The SEObook tools displays the yahoo links and other info underneath the results from google.

I use Yahoo site explorer or one of the other back link counter websites. Some links seem to take an age to appear though.

I've been experiencing the same problem with profile links. However, I tried something new.

I used a dummy domain for the emails as the free ones get banned so often.

When I Googled the domain name in quotes, hundreds of profile links suddenly appeared.

Also, I have had great success improving my search engine ranking through these profile links. I use the same strategy you described.

To me, that's the most important outcome, my site on page one for hundreds of keywords, many #1.

Keep the profile links, bookmarks and RSS feeds going. They really work.

If you register (and confirm) your domain in Google webmaster tools, they will show you all the backlinks that they are aware of.

I saw this discussed many times - google webmaster tools does not show all backlinks and also considered the list reliable source of info about backlinks

I have used this tool to index my profile links. I did nothing at all other than this and after 9-10 days all of my profile links get approved. Looks simple but very effective.

back links takes time to be shown on site.If your are link building your site to high PR site, than difinately you got back link.Keep posting new and informative content in website so search engine crawler index your site content quickly.Ways to get back links from forum posting, blog commenting, social bookmarking, social network profiles, directories etc.
