How do you know what to blog/vlog about?

I am a female starting a typical beauty/lifestyle blog with an accompanying youtube vlog. The hardest thing I have is figuring out topics to blog about. Vlogs seem a little more easier because I can just plan to do something on the weekend and film it as well as sit down and do storytime/GRWM videos.

But short of copying video trends (boyfriend tag, ____ does my make up, challenges, etc) or trying to mirror a different blogger/YouTuber....anyone have advice on how they come up with topics and content that don't seem overly planned/scripted? Or do I just have to accept that blogging/vlogging isn't as organic as people make it seem and start pre-planning like filming 4th of July content in June?

I'm one to post long posts on facebook with opinions and such on topics and everyone told me "you just need to go ahead and start a blog!" and since I've done it...I still can't seem to find anything to blog about! I don't think my little social media rants are long enough to blog about, but I also don't find myself going on about topics where I'd have to research. Like, I'm trying to go vegetarian/vegan and it's a topic I blogged about and spoke about how I substitute mushrooms for meats and to add fluff, I did a little bit of research on health benefits of mushrooms, their nutritional value and all that stuff and It made blogging kind of annoying lol. I definitely want to stick more of towards opinion pieces with less research needed. I am trying to avoid celebrity gossip because I am also a model plus an aspiring singer and I don't need to be burning bridges trying to serve "tea" or gain "clout" by being messy.

Or maybe I just need to stick to vlogs? I talk a lot and while I haven't filmed a vlog just yet (I just got my tripod in today!), I've been sort of practicing by just speaking on topics as if I was filming and it all just seems to flow more naturally than typing about a subject. I feel like typing

I was also thinking about doing vlogs, then sending my vlogs off to be transcribed and edit the transcription into a written blog. So that way, I'm not making different content for my website and youtube, but instead making a single content adapted for both platforms.

Market research babe...You need to subscribe to any worthy beauty/lifestyle resource you can find out there like facebook groups, forums, magazines, websites, other blogs, etc., and just pick what people are comenting about, what are their doubts and questions specially and write something oriented to bring them answers.
Something i like to do is go to reddit and find a sub-reddit, there´s a sub-reddit pretty much about any niche that is active and filled with highly valuable information you can pick on thats is not yet on the resources i mention above, i would start with forums and reddit instead of going to an already published article, cheers.

I'm not asking this in regards to what topics get the best hits and drive traffic and such....I'm talking more of personally what you find easy to write/talk about because you like the topic and how you found passion around these topics. Apparently you didn't read my original post and you would have known this was more of looking for how to do it ORGANICALLY rather than curate everything based around what I "should" blog about

Also to add...I'm not building a blog/audience from the ground up. I used to be signed and toured with Justin Bieber and a bunch of other stuff so an audience is already there. I've just haven't done anything to entertain my audience other than modeling jobs/pics but im trying to have this like Umbrella brand with a blog and YT channel that brings out my personality. Obviously you're thinking I must lack personality or self awareness if I cant find something within myself to develop content, but it's not like that at all. I more of want to have some type of direction/cohesiveness in the content I post. Like....I'm not like a "fitness" blogger, but I may talk about fitness, im not a "beauty guru" blogger although I may talk about beauty, I'm not a "gamer" but I may talk about gaming....so I'm trying to figure out a median of how to know what to blog about to showcase me. I'm not worried about what topics appeal more in the sense I'm making content just to bring in numbers

You could keep it generic and not limit it to fashion or beauty in that case. This is what usually celebrities do, they simply post organic stuff going on in their life.

Going to a store, visit to a beach, cooking food, lawn moving, playing with kids and more.

You could troll the very sites you want quality contextual backlinks from for ideas. When a good article is posted there, write your take on it at your own blog, then mention your post in the comment section or email to the site if you are tryng to get a guest post published. Thus the backlinking process can be integrated into content creation, as the very thing you can rely on to give you ideas for your own site.

I'd suggest blogging about something you know already, something you won't have to force yourself to do.
If you not into 'cars' it would be hard blogging about cars even if you have a list of topics.

It wouldn't hurt if you would check out other lifestyle and beauty bloggers. There are so many that have been blogging for quite some time now.

Have a trip to the nearest store and check out what's new. You can hit a blog and a vlog there. You see, some people still read reviews on products.

There's a lot to blog about, you just need to do research. Best of luck!

Creating content that nobody cares about is the worst type of content you can create or, spend time on creating.
As business owners and entrepreneurs one of our most important assets IS our time.
So, we need to make sure to be strategic about it and spend our time wisely on stuff we know is going to work in some capacity or another.
In regards to content creation the 3 key aspects here are:
(1) Research
(2) Listening
(3) Testing
I want to share with you my TOP CONTENT RESEARCH TOOLS that I've used at one point or another for creating different awesome content.
NOTE:
I don't use ALL of those tools at the same time for all types of content.
Sometimes, a quick Quora search is enough to create a cool, trending blog/vlog post.
Sometimes, it just comes down to personal preference.

I don't see reddit here. Reddit is gold mine since you simply go to related subreddits and look at what is happening, what are people talking about rn and what is gaining attention of users via upvotes etc.

I suggest find somebody who you're comfortable talking to. It could be your boyfriend, parents or best friend. Be keen on the topics you talk about for hours, and maybe you can talk about that on your vlogs as well. The fact that you would like to start opinion-based vlogs can already be your channel's brand. So go from there and list down the topics that could potentially be vlog-worthy.

The gold mine is buried deep in Reddit. You won't strike it soon. And even you do it shouldn't be struck to often.

Jeez you are totally right !! Reddit is also an absolute goldmine for content creation.
