Everyone knows that a smartphone has two operating systems. One that represents the graphical use and the other that handles radio communication. How would you know if either, esp the latter has been hacked?

All of my connections, even under everyday circumstances have been incredibly weird and shaky too over the past few days. And I get the feeling someone may be listening in or watching. How can you test this?

Ok, I posted funny answer above. So I will explain you.

There are not 2 operating systems on your phone. There is one system.
1. Bootloader is not system, it's program to boot system found on partition
2. If you clear system like iOS or Android, bootloader remains because mostly it's locked
3. Sometimes you can clear bootloader when you unlock it. If you do it, you will brick your phone. There is no mysterious OS working on phone
4. Restoration programs can restore bootloader if producent made such software for PC system. It will detect phone via USB protocols like external storage and place bootloader files in correct destination
5. If you are worried, reset to factory settings. It will clear 99% cases of "listening"
Probably your phone is just old loaded with trash and it's slower.

OS can be hacked, for example with Pegasus (Israeli military software), but once you get soft removed, your phone is unhacked.
-------------------------------
There are hardware things hardcoded by phone producents on chips, they cannot be hacked
Thats why goverment can check your positition even your phone is disabled, because 2G antenna.
Don't worry, these things cannot be saved by software you installed on your device.

I already scanned the file system for breakage and everything appears to be fine at that level

It's not OS and cannot be hacked.
Rather they are instructions hardcoded on motherboard chips and CPU.
It's not operating system. For example PC chips also have instructions for CPU, RAM, I/O, etc.
But on PC you have mini OS called BIOS stored on CMOS battery and BIOS chip. In smartphones you don't have anything like that and this cannot be hacked from Android or iOS level.

Your phone can be hotter than usual or runs out of battery quickly.

check your data usage

I am also curious, anybody know this.
You cannot be 100% sure. Only system re-install can give you 100%. With Android it's easy. With iOS not.
There are security companies that are checking for example politicans phones.
Still they are doing it on Android or iOS level, not hardware instructions like OP described.

I wonder if its more than coincidence I started my own podcast on government coverups, and the secrets of world history lately. Just for some fun, albeit with with very exclusive information and it picked up a bit which is when my communications started to get a bit funny.

reading this post i get goosebumps, can you elaborate more what exaclty is happening, how you get this idea?

Who knows? :suspicious:

maybe no operating systems but yeah I got your point, is like samsung they use a android version for the cellphone and their proprietary UI interface and you have the option to use Android sms, phone, calendar services or samsung proprietary sms, calls and calendars apps that is set for default by samsung that is what you mean? but anwering your question, is really hard to know if someone is listening or traking your cellphone activity, could be from a problem in the company network and your area is saturated with devices connecting to the nearest cellphone tower, bad update, wrong configuration or a program is consuming a lot of resources in the background and causing problems not necesarily traking programs, aliexpress by it self consumes a lot of battery on cellphones, facebook activate in the background every 30 minutes or hour and whatsapp every 10 minutes is activating in the background to check for changes, messages and updates weird but true, if you really feel insecure change cellphone is the best option to keep your privacy because locate if something is installed in your cellphone will be really difficult.

If you're talking about "government coverups" then they're exactly "covered" up anymore, are they?

And if you're talking about "secrets of the world" then they're not exactly secrets.

You're just being paranoid.

Unless you're on a Julian Assange/Wikileaks level of investigative journalism, I don't see why any three letter agency would be after you. As you're most likely regurgitating information that is easily available all over the internet.
