How Do You Keep Your Crypto Safe From Hacks

I'm growing increasingly wary of storing cryptocurrency as I hear more about wallets and exchanges being compromised. Although hardware wallets appear to be secure, some users continue to have faith in specific exchanges. Which techniques do you personally do to protect your cryptocurrency? Any advice on how to maintain it secure over time?

Don't store your 12-word seed phrase on desktop or mobile phone is a good start, there are people who takes photo or writes it to save in a .txt file, highly dangerous
 
I double-check URLs and avoid clicking random links, phishing attacks scare me more than the tech itself.
 
Buy off an exchange (to avoid getting scammed p2p) and store it in a cold wallet. Spend some money here to get a super reliable one. Then never ever connect it to the internet and only use it to sign transactions completely offline.

As long as you yourself don’t fall for a scam, and get a trusted cold wallet from a trusted company’s own website (not Amazon or a 3rd party), nobody is getting your crypto.
 
Cold wallets are the best for storing cryptocurrency, they can't be compromised if you store your seed phrase well
 
I am personally using Cold wallets in every other wallets the Crypto is not really yours.

Statistically, most losses come from non-custodial wallets due to user negligence or lack of IT security knowledge.

If you actively manage your crypto portfolio, using exchanges and smart contracts is unavoidable.
I keep my crypto for active management on Cryptomus wallet and Poloniex exchange. For long-term storage, I use Metamask, Phantom, and Tronlink.
Seed phrases are stored on paper with elderly relatives who don’t use gadgets but know how to safely keep documents.

You cannot do anything to prevent hack on exchange where you are holding. All you can do is choose a safe exchange.

Indeed I just keep what I need for trading on exchanges because of this. It's far safer to keep your own keys in a hardware wallet. 2FA is also helpful.

Indeed, protecting the private key is the cornerstone. Which do you prefer for long term storage: reliable software wallets or hardware wallets?
