If not already, use Ccleaner from piriform or filehippo.
Seperate partitions for OS and programs with another for data.
Install all programs on seperate drive to OS
Check what programs need checking and unchecking from OS startup list on boot
I recommend using ESET as it runs in the background and doesnt need to constantly check all programs and files at startup

I suggest to download "AVG Antivirus". It's great, and you could get it for free using torrents.

Have you tried ESET? its ten times smaller and faster buddy. works in the background and i install it on clients pc's and they confirm a massive noticable difference
Free automatic updates many times a day too without you been present when the latest trojans etc are discovered on the web and reported
Im running seo programs and it flashes up all the time and blocks sites if my pc tries to comment on any infected sites

Only anti-virus I'll ever need: Not being a dumbass.
Anti-virus programs are huge resource hogs. Keep your flash and java versions up to date, don't download shit you don't trust, and use common sense and you'll never run into problems. I only run an anti-virus program when I have a reason to.

Clean your computer and i'm talking about the hardware part.Keep it away from dust,especially if you have a laptop,because it will over heat a lot,and will run a lot slower(talking from experience here).
Another good thing is to install is malwarebytes antimalware.It dosen't eat resources like other antiviruses dose and it dose a good job keeping you away from viruses.
If you really want to keep your computer safe and in a good coondition,all cracked/nulled softwares that you run,make sure you run them on a vmware first.It dosen't matter if the member of this forum scanned the file with 30 antiviruses,a good crypter is not more then 30$ and can make any virus invisible for antiviruses,so watch out

Use a VPS. Way better than leaving your computer on all the time. A lot faster and room for more connections.
