How do you guys find your keywords??

On TV, in magazines they put in the back seat of airplanes, in the USA Today that they place in front of my hotel room door, in Walmart, on Billboards, junkmail.

I look at where people are advertising, its easy to find lots of good keywords in ads.

spy on ezine articles - have a look at the recent articles and look at their niches.Once you find a new niche,go to the category and see if there is any author who has been doing submissions for a long time - some people do article submission every day.So that means the niche is very good and converts a lot.grab it

This sounds like a really good idea. Thanks for the tip. I can also use this to see if something I am already considering is consistently advertised.

I use market samurai too. they got a 40 day trial right now through the 30 day challenge.

The keywords you are ranking for must not get very many searches. You have to find a balance between low competition and monthly search counts. I mean if no one is searching for a keyword no one will see the site, so you must ensure that the keywords you choose have a average monthly search count and does not have over 300,000 results this should get you a few more clicks.

I tried to use google trends, and then clicked from the google trends page to google insight... and that one truly gives you a great deal of insight. It shows you related terms to what you type in, AND shows which ones are trending up (or going hyper). Well worth a visit.

I know all the standard opinions of what you're meant to go for in a keyword. Consistently, I hit easy looking keywords and get nowhere. Equally as consistently, I hit unbreakable looking keywords and suddenly I'm all over the front page.

I believe keyword research will give you a pointer as to the easiness of a keyword up to a margin of 50%. The rest is total luck.

Keyword research is important, but never let it take energy away from implementing your plans.

I agree because it seems like MS does a new update at least 1-2 times a week since I have been using it.

I agree with one of the earlier posters that finding the best keywords (1000's of searches and less than half a mill competing sites) is great news but there are so many other things that you need to determine.

How old are the sites at the top of Google?
How many backlinks do they have?
Do they have the keyword in their title?

For example, I work in the finance niche and if there is an aged site that also has a forum then I can just forget it because those guys are bringing in thousands of new posts every day = new, fresh content and there is no way i will dislodge them.
The other thing to bear in mind is that if and once you get to the top of the page, you will have to work your nuts off every day to maintain it. I left one of my sites for just a over a week recently and it dropped 4 places. Sorry if it appears Im going off topic but its all relevant to the keywords you are looking for.

man all these keyword tools suck to me except MS to tell you the truth but i think the guy whtgryblk is right on the money because ive been using all of these tools mentioned and they either tell u nothing or close to it... and i watch and read all the tutorials and then after i put them in to practice for about a month str8, and then move onto the next one... i have no problem ranking the BIG problem is like stated at the beginning of this post is FINDING THE BUYING KEYWORDS THAT PAY... this is the gospel... and i have yet to figure it out... and when i see all these vids of programs that they use market samurai doing keyword research its always some bullshyt keyword thats not gonna payout and they really dont get into depth about all the other filters that we should be using and the correct way to use... for example i was doing a test and i found out that the SEOC and the overal amount of SERPs dont mater remember you just want to out rank the top 10 thats all that matters... so i wouldnt get caught up on how many pages there are, and as for finding good niches i was doing some soul searching and i figured out hell y not look at all my junk emails i get every damn day these guys must be making a fortune. see what theyre affiliates are, and sign up... hell how did burger king and wendys get so popular, they just followed what the big MC D did...
and dont bother asking others no one is gonna tell you there true secrets that work really come on be for real... why do you think they are selling them because it doesnt work for them no more... use it as a guideline and move on.....

olm, I don't understand about a "word that is not going to payout"... samurai gives you the adword value for that keyword, and then from that, one can extrapolate the adsense value, if one is going for adsense. So I understand the problem there.

To me, there is no difference between keyword to keyword, just what someone would pay for it in an auction market (like adsense).

Close your eyes and randomly click on of the listings.

Don't use any tools yet. Brainstorm all the keywords that you think people MIGHT use to search for the products. Eliminate all the browsing keywords and focus on the buy keyword terms.

After that, run it on MS or MNF to see what are the monthly searches for the terms and start building campaigns around them.

Start by looking at your competitors site and seeing what he's using. Then make your site relevant to those keywords and plan your campaigns from there.

blackieman i was referring to buying phrases... i think as said above when looking for a niche you probably should not use any tools just your brains like debian suggests... this way u get the hostest topics and products...

ok debian this site is great for looking up products but most of these affiliatea will only pay very little ive been reading that if you are not getting paid at least $20 per sale its not worth your time and products usually wont pay out that much correct...

this is whats messing me up, when u using MS for your keyword research and looking for buying phrase u look at the OCI correct and what about lets say if u see a term that is clearly a buying term because it has the word BUY infront of it but u see another term that has a higher OCI and has more traffic searches but does not look like a buyer keyword which do u choose.

Holy shit..this is a really good starting point. I was randomly poking around Amazon, looking for top sellers/niches, but this list gets to the point.

I've spent the last 9 months making sites that don't rank. (But I found the topics vaguely interesting.) I'm now past the labor of love view attitude and now targeting all my efforts BEFORE I start.

So depends on what you want to do. If you want to get adsense clicks, forget about OCI and go for the highest adsense values (CPC model). If a CPA model (cost per action, usually sales or some kind of signup) then go for OCI.

make since but what i was saying is that how can a term with buy in it. have a lesser OCI than a term that doesnt look like a buying term... should i just say forget it and just go for the higher OCI term is MS that accurate...
